Specialty Burgers in Northern Virginia

Reena Das
Die-hard burger fans have plenty to look out for in Northern Virginia. From built-to-order to original recipes, foodies can treat their gastronomical senses to awesome juicy and succulent burgers at many of these lesser known and chain burger joints.

Ray's Hell Burger

Located near the intersection of Wilson Blvd. and N. Quinn St. in Arlington, Ray's Hell Burger is an unassuming take-out burger joint that enthralls locals with an array of original burgers.

Menu offerings include the unconventional B.I.G. Poppa, an au poivre burger (meat with crushed peppercorns) with bleu cheese, cognac and sherry sautéed mushrooms and grilled onions for $8.99. For a price of $11.99, indulge in the Venison burger with sour cherry-brandy glaze, roasted chestnut puree and beet tuiles.

For an out-of-the-world experience, create your own 1/3-pounder with delectable toppings like apple wood-smoked bacon, butter fried egg, guacamole and roasted bone marrow with persillade (a mixture of chopped parsley and garlic).

Sides are simple- generous servings of homemade cole slaw, fat fries and skin on fries, among others.
