July was National Ice Cream month, so I hope that everyone did their part and tasted as much ice cream as they could! It is now August, and although it is not National Ice Cream month, August is one of the hottest months of the year. Besides the beach or a dip in the pool, what better way to cool off then to eat some ice cream!
Below find a few stellar, original ice cream parlors in cities near you.
The Creole Creamery
Two locations: 4924 PryainiaStreet, 6260 Vicksburg Street, New Orleans, LA
A little different than your average ice cream place, The Creole Creamery has a huge variety of flavors whether you order ice cream, sorbet, or sherbets. For ice cream they have had Balsamic Strawberry to Peanut Butter Pie to Wasabi-Pistachio. For sorbet's and sherbets they have had Golden Watermelon to Mimosa to Blueberry Mojito. The flavors are immense and fun to try. Choose different kinds of cones, waffle, sugar etc...as well as from their menu which also has fountain drinks, floats, sundaes and more.
They also make cakes, host parties and cater.
Henry's Homemade Ice cream
3100 Independence Parkway, Plano Texas
They deliver, they pick up, they make ice cream "made-to-order", they sell gift certificates and they host birthday parties. Besides that, their ice cream is pretty darn good too! They have any flavor you can imagine, but you have to call them or go in to find out what they are! They do host a class called "Sundae School" which is a fun way to learn about Henry's history as well as making ice cream and tasting it. Great for groups.
Il Laboratorio del Gelato
95 Orchard Street, New York, NY
If you like ice cream( Gelato) and sorbet, this place is for you. They have rich flavors for Gelato such as Cheddar Cheese or Coffee-Greek as well as our regular faves Chocolate Chocolate Chip and Vanilla Rum. They also have original tastes such as Sesame-Black and Basil. They also have wide variety of flavors for their sorbet like Pomegranite, Lychee and Champagne. A fun party for your taste buds. Alex Witchell from the New York Times gave Il Laboratorio del Gelato a great review.
Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream
917 East Pine Street, Seattle, WA (with three more locations in WA)
Molly Moon's has a truck that travels Seattle at certain times and venues, so you can check their website. They tweet where they are going to be, so you should follow them if you love their homemade flavors such as Maple Walnut, Cardamom, Theo Coconut Kiss and "Scout" Mint. They have these classics (and more) but when other ingredients are available, or according to the season, they will make other flavors which can also be found by following them on Twitter.

Post a CommentGreat share Julie. I remember working in my uncle's Restaurant. He sold homemade ice cream. That was the best ice cream. I was only 15 at the time. I gained weight that summer.
yum!
I am glad I had ice cream last month--didn't know it was National Ice Cream month...there aren't too many specialty ice cream shoppes here--cool article though!
