Speck's SeeThru Satin Hard Shell Case for Macbooks

Speck's SeeThru Satin is a laptop case made specifically for Apple laptops, including the new unibody MacBook and aluminum MacBook Pro. This hard shell laptop case features a satin-feeling finish for a soft, smooth feel without compromising protection from scrapes and scratches.

General Overview

The SeeThru Satin comes in two parts, one for the bottom and one for the top of the laptop. The two pieces attach rather easily. For help on putting on the shell, there is a video available on the Speck products site, under the features for the SeeThru Satin. Once the case is installed correctly, your laptop will be protected from being scratched. Also, the material of the case is thin enough to allow for the Apple logo to shine through when your laptop is on.

The SeeThru Satin keeps all ports exposed for easy access. It even keeps the ventilator exposed so heat does not build up unnecessarily.

Accessories

When my SeeThru Satin case arrived, the package provided not only the desired laptop case but also a handy orange cloth that can be used to dust off my laptop. I am unsure whether or not the orange dusting cloth comes with all orders of SeeThru Satin products, as I purchased my case from a third-party site.

Color Options

If you are planning to purchase a SeeThru Satin case for a unibody 13'' MacBook, Speck's product site offers a few color options for you. You can choose between black, lipstick red, and a deep, royal purple.

If you're buying a SeeThru Satin case for the aluminum 13'' MacBook Pro, you can choose between black, red, purple, and a light bubblegum pink.

The SeeThru Satin case for the aluminum 15'' MacBook Pro (the one with black keys) has the same color options as the SeeThru Satin case for the aluminum 13'' MaBook Pro, along with an additional choice of yellow.

For users of the aluminum 17'' MacBook Pro, your options are limited to just black.

As mentioned earlier, these are the color options listed on the Speck products site. However, it is possible to find other color options from third-party sites, and possibly in-stores at your local electronics store or anywhere else that may sell laptop cases.

Pros

-provides a good amount of protection from scrapes and scratches to the laptop's surface while not adding too much weight
-adds on a minimal amount of bulk
-rubberized exterior is soft to the touch and provides some grip
-easy to install and remove
-all ports, including USB and CD drive, are exposed for easy access

Cons

-external battery indicator, located on the left side of the MacBook Pro, is covered and not easily visible through the case, at least not for the black case
-more color options would be nice

Overall, Speck's SeeThru Satin hard shell case is an excellent case for MacBook and MacBook Pro users.
