Spectacular Views at Camaron Cove Resort, Indian Rocks Beach

Susan Slade
We have several timeshares, and take our fixed weeks at our home resorts. We have one that is the points system, and would loose them, if we didn't use them. I called R.C.I., who do the exchange, and asked for a timeshare on the beach in Pinellas county. The only one available was Camaron Cove Resort. We went ahead and booked it.

When I got my confirmation letter it stated that we could only park one vehicle, and we had booked a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit. I immediately phoned the resort, and was told that 2 vehicles was fine.

We went on-line before heading here, and were really impressed with the website. There are 41 photographs to look at, and the unit we were getting is 1,400 square feet.

We arrived on Saturday afternoon, just before 2.00 p.m., and check in was at 3.00 p.m. There was a gentleman in the parking lot, who came up to us, and showed us the elevator, for the office on the first floor. He was an employee, and this was a good first impression.

In the office they asked for our name, and a credit card, as a deposit in case the apartment is not left as it should be, or if we checked out late. The gentleman gave us an information book, 2 parking permits, and 2 keys. Yes, they are the old fashioned type of key.

The parking is on the ground floor, and our room is on the first floor. This is the same as England. It took me a long time to have a first and second floor.

We looked in at the apartment before we brought our stuff up. We walked in the door, and there was a huge hallway. To the left another hallway, with a linen closet, another closet, a door with the water heater, and a/c unit behind it. Then the second bedroom, which is really large. It overlooks the swimming pool. The walk in closet is almost the size of a room. The second bathroom has a double vanity, and it huge too.

From here we walked back to the main hallway, and up to a full kitchen. At the back of it is a big breakfast bar, that could seat 4 comfortably. Then the dining area, with a wooden table, and 4 chairs.

In front of this is the lounge, with 2 Queen size sofa beds, a leather recliner, with a leather foot stall, 3 tables, lamps, a television, D.V.D., and the most perfect view.

Looking from the kitchen, dining area, or lounge, the whole back wall is sliding doors. Outside of it is a huge balcony, with 6 seats, and 2 tables. Then the most perfect view of the sea oats, palms, the beach, and the sea. The balcony carries along the front of the unit, and the same view is seen from the master bedroom.

Going into the bedroom, there is a Queen size bed, 2 armchairs, television, plenty of drawers, lamps, etc. Then walking through there is a 'dressing room/closet' that is as big as a room. Through the next door the bathroom, again with 2 vanities, toilet, bathtub with shower.

We decided that we could live in this apartment all the time.

We went downstairs, picked up a cart, and loaded our cases, food, and drinks. After getting settled, I decided to walk the beach. The weather was 52 degrees, with 25 mile an hour winds, gusting up to 35. I went down the elevator, and walked around the underneath parking, until I found the gate to the beach. It was so cold that I managed to walk for 20 minutes. Coming back, they had special mats to ensure that you didn't bring sand back into the building.

Checking the swimming pool, it is a lovely size, and the water was warm. Then on the other side of the building, the whirlpool felt really hot.

Upon reading the Information booklet we found out that they have free Internet access, which is great. I did send them an email before we came, asking this question, but they never got back to me on it.

The only negative thing I can find about Camaron Cove Resort is that they don't have washers, and dryers in the apartments. There is so much space that they certainly could have. I checked the laundry room on the second floor, and you have to pay to wash, and dry your clothes. We have stayed in dozens of timeshares and this is the only one, that makes you pay. It might only be a couple of bucks, but it is the principal of it.

For the points, and money we have paid to stay here for 7 nights/8days, the value is fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone.
