Speech/Learning Center Activity Part II

This project is geared toward upper elementary or middle school students. It is designed for English or speech class. The purpose of the lesson is to provide a fun way for students give a demonstrative speech.

Introduction to Demonstrative speech project:

In this project, students will give a demonstrative speech explaining how they created the learning center project and how to do the activity they created. (See Speech/Learning Center Activity Part I)

Activity: Giving the Demonstrative Speech

Demonstrative speech: Students should give a 3-5 minute demonstrative speech explaining how to do the activity and how they made the project

  1. Visual aids for Demonstrative Speech-
    1. Students should bring raw materials that they used to make the project. Use the materials to demonstrate a mock version of how the project is made. It would be a good idea to show pictures of the project in the various stages.
    2. Students should also use the actual finished project as a visual aid. During the speech, they should interact with the game as they show the audience how to play it or how to do the activity
  1. Organized presentation-the demonstrative speech must be given in an organized manner.
    1. Begin the demonstrative speech with an attention grabbing opening
    2. Identify the activity/game
    3. List (and show) materials used to make the project
    4. Show the final product
    5. Demonstrate how to do the activity or play the game
    6. Give other possible ways this activity could be used, or variations of this project
    7. Give an interesting closure to conclude your demonstrative speech
