Speed Up Your Firefox Browser!

*I do not know if this is already in Firefox versions 2 and up but you can still use this tutorial*

Let's admit that everyone likes surfing the internet faster. Well I have a tutorial here that will help you speed up your Firefox browser for searching the internet a little bit faster! Sometimes even when we have a high speed connection we want to go faster and this tutorial will make Firefox go faster but for some people they don't get a noticeable difference but trust me it does speed it up at least a little bit. This tweak will be changing how much data it requests at once therefore giving us a slight boost of speed. Now on to the tutorial to speeding up your surfing abilities!

Starting out

Start by going into your Firefox browser. Once inside your browser go to the address bar at the very top of your browser. Click inside the address bar and type "about:config" as the URL without quotes. You should load up to a page that has a listing of text and a bar that is next to the word "Filter:" this list of text is your configurations of your browser, hence the "config" in "about:config".

Inside the "about:config" page

*Altering with other options may mess up your browser*

Once you are ready to start speeding up your browser first start by clicking inside the bar that is next to the word "Filter:" What we are doing here is just filtering out the options that you need from everything else you don't need to edit. So start out by typing "network" in the filter bar. After the page is done filtering your options locate these three options

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Once locating the first option "network.http.pipelining" go to that option and double click on it. The value of this option should now change to "true". We want to do the exact same thing for "network.http.proxy.pipelining" too so locate this option and double click on it to change the value to "true". For the option "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" we want to change this value to start around 30 to 34. To do this double click on "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" and a prompt should pop up and ask you to enter a value. Type in this box either 30 or 34 and then click ok to change the value to whatever you entered in the box. Changing this option basically changes how many requests it asks from a website so entering 30 would make 30 requests at one time to increase speed. You can always go back to this option and change the value to whatever you feel necessary to increase speeds.

After changing these options we are going to add an option to the list. So start out by deleting "network" from the top bar in the page next to "Filter:" or by clicking show all. Once everything is showing right click anywhere in the list and go to "New" and then click on "Integer". A box should come up asking the preference name. Type in the box "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" then set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on the information it receives.

Your Done!

Once you finish all the tweaking of the about:config page if you have a high speed connection you should be surfing at a faster speed now. Enjoy!
