Boosting the rate of your metabolism is probably the easiest and most effective way to speed up your fat-loss progress. There are a lot of ways to increase your metabolic rate, and hence boost the rate at which your body burns calories. I'm going to try and give you a couple of ways that you can speed up your metabolism.

Metabolism basically means the amount of energy available to your body at any given time, due to the burning of calories, a high level of activity is usually associated with a high metabolism, and for the same reason inactivity tends to slow down the metabolic rate. Here are a couple of tips to help you speed up your body's metabolic rate.

Exercise More Frequently

Whenever you carry out any type of activity, especially high intensity activities, your metabolic rate speeds up, and your body begins to burn calories faster. The higher your level of activity the higher your metabolic rate, the higher your metabolic rate, the higher the speed with which your body burns calories. Most people think that in order to effectively burn calories, they need to sign up at a gym and start lifting barbells, but this is far from the truth, frequently the only thing you need to do is to simply increase your level of activity, take up housekeeping, go for short walks, if you can swim, take a 10 minute swim, do this a couple of weeks and you'll soon begin to notice that not only do you feel fitter but you are also burning excess fat at the same time.

Control Your Diet

In addition to increasing your level of activity, you need to take control of the kind of foods you eat. Since increasing your level of activity result in a corresponding boost in your body's ability to burn calories, its vital for you to feed your body with the kind of foods that will make it even more efficient in burning calories. The ideal kinds of food, that you need to focus on eating are foods that are rich in fibres, lean meat, vegetables, and lots of fruits. Try staying away from processed foods and foods that are rich in fat. also try to break up your daily meals into 5 or 6 smaller meals instead of 3, the reason 3 meals a day is not optimal for speeding up the metabolic rate is because the human body slows down its metabolic processes when it goes without food for more than 3 hours, so its vital to eat smaller, more frequent meals in order to keep your metabolism going at its optimum speed.

Last of all, be sure to drink lots of water, because not only is water essential to almost every metabolic process in your body, inadequate consumption of water leads to your body's metabolism not performing at its maximum efficiency.
