Speed Racer - Movie Review

Go Speed Racer Go!

Wow is about the most appropriate word for Speed Racer starring Emile Hirsch, Susan Sarandon, John Goodman, Christina Ricci, and Mathew Fox. The creators of The Matrix movies also put together this crazy eye candy of a movie.

Lots of action and comic book color and humor round out Speed Racer with mostly racing at its core. The struggle between good and evil is the central theme and is mostly appropriate for younger kids. There is a lot of fictional physical action that must be explained to the younger ones as cars can't really do the stunts portrayed in this movie.

Christina Ricci seems to re-invent herself again and is showing her ability to cross over into many kinds of genres. Emile Hirsch is Speed Racer and continues to show he has talent.

Speed Racer overall is worth seeing and has a lot of special effects that make the movie interesting to watch although there are a few minutes through out that are boring and over done for adults.

The critics pay far too much attention to acting and forget that Speed racer after all is a comic book story. Just remember Speed Racer is meant to be a colorful and fast paced story that keeps the kids interested.

Thanks for the review. I never was a big speed racer fan growing up. Looks interesting though. Oh, and I loved the Matrix so I can only imagine how good the special effects are.
