Use a Speed Reading Book? It's easy to double reading speed! You can learn to double reading speed using some basic methods and practice. This article will have you asking yourself four basic questions before you begin using a Speed Reading Book. The four basic questions are meant to reveal whether or not you are ready for the challenge to Double Your Reading Speed.

Speed Reading Book - Question #1 - Why do you want to improve your reading?

Do you enjoy reading so much that you never seem to get enough? Do you want to learn to speed read just to impress your friends or do you want to learn how to speed read so that you may ultimately read more AND understand more of what you have just read? These are some of the first questions that you must ask yourself, because the purpose determines the motivating factors that will inspire you to go through and complete whatever speed reading resource or course that you choose

Speed Reading Book - Question #2 - How much do you want to improve?

The average college student reads anywhere from 250-300 words per minute with excellent retention. Do you want to increase it from 300 words per minute to 800 wpm then to 1,000 wpm? Having an understanding of what you would like to achieve through the speed reading resource or course will either set you up for success or failure.

Most people would be very pleased to read twice or even three times as fast as they currently do. If, however, you have a goal of reading 10,000 words per minute, the type of resource or program that you choose may or may not be able to sustain that type of increase. You have to set a target to be able to determine the extent of your growth.

Speed Reading Book - Question #3 - How much time do you have for the exercises?

This is a very important question, because it will ultimately lead to your success or failure. Everyone knows that the age old saying of "Practice makes Perfect" is nearly always true. It is not enough for you to know the skills, but you should devote time to practice and upgrade your skills faster. The more time that you are able to devote to your new found skill, the quicker you will progress and the greater your progression will be.

Many students of speed recording courses have sustained remarkable increases with just fifteen to thirty minutes of practice each day. Others will require more time to practice, while some will need less. Whatever the perfect time for you has not yet been determined. The simple fact remains though that you must be willing to devote some time, preferably every day, to this challenge if you truly desire to see results.

Speed Reading Book - Question #4 - How open are you to new techniques?

Most speed reading resources and courses will require you to have an open mind to be able to see and recognize the usefulness of new and scientific techniques in speed reading. If you are the type of person who has a closed mind to new things, perhaps this challenge to doule your reading speed should be left for another time.

Ask yourself these four simple questions before using a speed reading book. If you're ready, get to reading!
