Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag Play Their Last Hand

Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are broke and living in one of Pratt's mother's beach homes, as reported at RadarOnline.com. The couple, who recently dominated celebrity news with reports about a split, allegedly faked it for publicity.

Are they broke?

If Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are broke, none would be surprised. "The truth is that they are cash-strapped right now and their only real form of income these days is from set-up paparazzi photographs," said a RadarOnline.com insider.

Speidi has not been on the top of the food chain since The Hills, and therefore it would make sense that money hasn't been rolling in for the couple. If they are depending on paparazzi photos for cash, chances are those photos will lose their value sooner rather than later. The public is hip to the Speidi publicity stunts and what may have seemed funny in the past loses its effectiveness when it keeps happening.

A publicity stunt or not?

"You're right! It was all a publicity stunt! A hoax! I'm talking, of course, about Joaquin Phoenix's new movie," Spencer tweets, but is that what he really means? Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag hooked up in Costa Rica after they supposedly split and Pratt went public with an apology to Montag for the way he was acting.

Now they're back and living in mom's beach house. Did the apology do it or were they never split in the first place? Heidi tweets, "First few days back in America! I don't think I will ever leave again, at least I am never letting @SpencerPratt pack again!!!! Praise Jesus!"

She'll never let Spencer pack again? Why would she let Spencer pack if they were split?
