Parties, Pot-Lucks - Great Ideas for Any Party Food
Finger Foods for Great Parties:
1. Deli Wraps: Deli wraps are easy and clean. If you go to your local grocery store and pick up a pound of turkey, ham, salami, and which ever cheese you prefer. Next, you need to grab wraps. Wraps are fun and easy to handle. They come in a variety of colors for taste so they are eye-catching.
First you need to lay out your wraps and put a line of cheese all the way down the wrap. Then take out one bag of your cold cuts and layer down enough meet on the top of your cheese. Altogether you need two lines of cheese and cold cuts per wrap. After you've lined your wrap you have to roll it up starting from the ends. When its finally rolled up take a few toothpicks a stick it through the wrap so that it wont fall apart as each person grabs it. They should look like pin wheels with toothpicks in them. Because the wraps are held together with the toothpick, they are easily moved - so make a nice platter! Do this for all of the cold cuts, it will look great.
2. Cubed Cheese: Go to your local Costco or Sam's Club and grab your favorite cheese. The wholesale stores have great buys on large amounts of cheese. The cheese is fresh and has great quality. After you found two different types of cheese that you enjoy. Cut them into cubes and stick toothpicks in them. Take some crackers and creatively design the platter - but a wine glass in the middle with olives, get creative.
3. Tasteful Centerpiece: In the middle of each platter you can take a martini glass and fill it with different types of olives, strawberries, grapes, pineapple chunks, chocolate, candy.
4. Little Cupcakes: Grab your favorite box of cake mix and put them in a small cupcake pan to make little bite size cupcakes. After they have cooled get two different colored frostings and pipe a neat design on the top. Your guests will love it!
5. Bagged Crunch: Every party needs a crunch. Do not forget to put out pretzels, regular potato chips, tortilla chips, and any type of chips that you enjoy. Bring out the onion, been, ranch and cheese dip for this! A fun touch would be the organic vegetable chips because they range, and have an array of colored chips. Your guests will be surprised at how tasty veggies are.
6. Standard Veggies: The standard veggies would be carrots, cucumber, celery, broccoli and tomatoes. These are easy to prepare, and everyone is familiar with vegetables.
If you are able to spend a little more try to have oysters, and chilled shrimp at your party. They are easy to decorate with, and most party-goers love seafood -just make sure to keep it chilled or to have someone at the food prep-station preparing the food as people ask for it. Good luck, and I hope your party turns out great & saves you some money for 2009!
