You can buy used books in Buenos Aires by going to Avenida Corrientes. Starting at the 1400 block you can stroll both sides of the street for about four or five blocks, browse thousands of titles and visit over a dozen book stores featuring both new and used books. Among the used book stores, this area also features several music shops where you can buy new CD's and used records (yes, albums and vinyl can be found) try El Gallo Cantor and Magimusica.
The stores where you can buy new and used books are: Gandhi, Hernandez Libros, Compro Libros, Losada Libros, Antigona Libros, Edipo Libros, Solo Cine, El Perseguidor, Libreria La Catedra, Club Damas Libros and Zivals Musica and Libros. Some of these book stores are large and some are small.
While enjoying your day in this area you can also get something to eat. There are four pizzerias: Premier Pizza, Gran Marin Pizza, Farandula Pizza, La Opera Pizza and Pizza Libre. There are also cafes if you are not in the mood for pizza. If you have a hankering for American fast food, there is Burger King and McDonalds.
If you want to buy used books in Buenos Aires this area is very conveniently located in Capital Federal. You can take the Subte Red Line B to the Uruguay station; when you come up to the street level walk in the opposite direction of the traffic on Avenida Corrientes to find the book stores. The cross streets are Montevideo and Rodriquez Pena.
The bus is always an option. You can try the: 6, 60, 115 (check your Guia "T" for additional bus choices).
Another great place to buy used books in Buenos Aires is Plaza Italia. There is a bonanza of used books here as well but less restaurants and no new book stores. Take the Subte Green line D to the Plaza Italia station. When you come up to the street level you will see, across from the park as strip of Kiosks. All of them sell used books.
