Spending the Evening with Britney Spears

It was all part of an experiment. I wanted to see what the hubbub was about, so I spent the evening reading about Britney Spears and her life. I have never been one to follow celebrity gossip. Frankly, I don't think that other peoples' lives are that interesting. However, the people that do enjoy that kind of thing must be doing it for a reason, so I wanted to know what was so fascinating about Britney Spears. Maybe in doing this little study I am secretly becoming another member of the Britney Spears celebrity fan club?

What Does the Wiki Say?

Digging through Wikipedia for information on Britney Spears is an interesting and unorthodox way to learn about someone, even if the person is one of the most famous celebrity pop singers in the country. However, it IS probably the easiest and fastest way to gather information on a topic, person, singer, sex symbol, or whatever else you may be looking for. Just as a side note, there are nearly two hundred links to news articles about Britney Spears on her Wikipedia page. That is a testament to how popular she is as a celebrity.

Next, we move to her illustrious career. After a few smaller gigs, Britney Spears landed her first recording contract with Jive Records. Her first big hit, "Baby One More Time" led to her becoming the eighth best-selling female recording artist in the U.S.

After an interesting photo shoot for Rolling Stone magazine, she became a sex symbol to many.

Downhill in a Hurry

Then came the seemingly inevitable decline in Britney Spears' life that is also attributed to many other celebrities. Who knows why they self-implode? What causes someone's life to be destroyed so suddenly? I cannot even begin to understand why someone as rich, famous, and popular as Britney Spears would have such problems in his or her life.

Coming Back?

After plunging to the depths, Britney Spears has now come back with several hits, including her song "Womanizer." However, in her recent performance on the show "X Factor," Britney disappointed her fans with a "lackluster appearance." It appears that Ms. Spears was miming the song instead of singing.

Conclusion

Well, after this little analysis of Ms. Spears, I don't know that will I end up turning into a big fan of hers. "Britney Spears" was, according to the AP, the most-searched term online in 2008, so she must have a large following.

Hopefully she can continue to turn her life around and get back on the right track. After spending the evening getting to know Britney Spears, I have come to three conclusions. First, she had a great start, and she has a wonderful singing ability. Next, she is having some issues right now, and I wish her well. Finally, she is going to have to do a little bit more to get me into the Britney Spears celebrity fan club, even if she is a sex symbol.
