When you first walk into Sperata you'll be blown away by the beautiful décor. The hardwood floors are beautifully finished in deep rich mahogany and the booths are adorned with beautiful raw silk fabric. Everywhere your eyes look is a feast to the imagination. The beautiful hand blown light pendants seem to shine and illuminate the beautiful architecture. There are wonderfully crafted columns that support the second floor. To the right of the main entrance you'll find the pub area where you can enjoy an after work cocktail or perhaps just relax and enjoy some LIVE music.
Sperata is a beautiful restaurant, but the beauty does not compare to the cuisine. Executive Chef, Christopher Alan Hope is phenomenal! He was trained in some of the most famous hotels in London, Hamburg, Zurich, Hong Kong and Atlanta, Georgia. I understand that he has received various awards and medals for his culinary genius. His passion for food shines through in its taste and his presentation of his dishes. There are so many wonderful items to choose from on the menu that will be a challenge to select a single dish. Therefore I would suggest you try the Chefs tasting menu which will allow you to sit up close and personal and witness the majesty of the genius himself. You'll be front and center with a view of the kitchen as you enjoy a 5 course gourmet menu with wine pairing. The cost is $75.00 per guest and is well worth the price. Most menu items for dinner are around $20.00 to $30.00, so to enjoy a 5 course meal and taste a little piece of heaven right here in Historic Lawrenceville is extraordinary!
Sperata's lunch menu includes the soup of the day, fried green tomatoes and Seafood Risotto just to name a few. The day I visited for lunch I selected the Sperata house salad that includes mix greens, mushrooms, apples, bacon, pouched eggs and warm blue cheese sauce. This dish was absolutely delicious! The mixture of all of the ingredients was like a party in my mouth. I then tried the salt and pepper calamari. I have tasted many calamari dishes in my life and I can tell you that this was the best I have ever tasted. It was fresh, flavorful and simply melted in my mouth. This was only lunch; I can't wait to try dinner at Sperata on the Square. I already know that my first dish there will be their Duck Breast with mango and lime marmalade. Just the sound of that makes my mouth water. If you should have room for dessert, you can enjoy one of my favorites, the Vanilla Bean Crème Burlee' or perhaps the Chefs special sorbet.
I was so impressed with Sperata on the Square in Lawrenceville that I am planning an art show there this fall. Sperata on the Square in Lawrenceville is a great place to dine for lunch or dinner and would be an ideal location for a wedding rehearsal. Bottom-line: Excellent food, prices for lunch range from $6.00 to $10.00 and dinner items $20.00 to $30.00 and well worth every penny. Give them a call today and make your reservations early at 770-910-7705.
