Spice Girl Reunion? Say it Ain't So!

L. Vincent Poupard
According to the BBC, and Yahoo Music, there is a good chance for a Spice Girls reunion this December. An unnamed source is offering each of the five ladies $2 million to reunite for one show. Many fans of the former group are elated with the possibility, while others are just shaking their heads in disbelief.

So far, the sources are stating that Mel B., Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham are all ready to jump on board for the reunion. Mel C. has been against a reunion tour, but may be interested for the amount of money that is being offered.

Mel C. was the only one of the Spice Girls that did not attend a recent meeting in London. At that meeting, the offer was placed for the reunion. Some reports are stating that Mel C. is still against the reunion, while some are stating that she will do it for the money.

The reason why this offer would be fruitful for the ladies is because of the fact that all of them that have tried have had a sharp decline in their solo carriers. It is believed that at least two of the Spice Girls, Halliwell and Mel C., may be close to broke.

For those of you who are not sure if you remember the Spice Girls, let me give you a rundown:

Major Hits:

"Wannabe"

"Say You'll Be There"

"2 Become 1"

"Who Do You Think You Are"

"Spice Up Your Life"

Scary Spice:

Scary Spice was Melanie Brown (Mel B). She is the one who may have, or may not have, recently had Eddie Murphy's child. She had a decent solo album, and has made TV appearances in the US and Europe.

Ginger Spice:

Geri Halliwell went by the name of Ginger Spice. She also had a decent solo album, but slowly faded back into the darkness afterwards. She was sometimes nicknamed, "Slutty Spice," because of the nude pictures that surfaced of her.

Baby Spice:

Emma Bunton portrayed Baby Spice. Her first solo album produced two hits in the UK, and had music that made its way into American commercials. She was considered by many to be the most attractive of the Spice Girls. She has not done anything of humerous note.

Sporty Spice:

Melanie Chisholm is better known for being Sporty Spice. She has had four solo records since the ending of the Spice Girls. While her first two had decent success, the other two pretty much bombed. She is sometimes referred to know is Potato Spice because she has become more of a couch potato then a sporty person.

Posh Spice:

Victoria Beckham was originally known for being Posh Spice in the Spice Girls. She has had two albums released in the UK. One that was supposed to be released in 2003 was cancelled because of lack of interest.

Posh is the most successful of the former Spice Girls because of her husband. According to my sources, her husband has some sort of popularity for football, but I do not remember seeing him on anyone's fantasy football roster last year.

Whatever happens with the Spice Girls, there will be many people that look back on their career with a smile. Some smile because they enjoyed the time. Most smile because they cannot believe that they listened to the Spice Girls in the first place. Girl Power!?!

I used to play soccer, but I cannot stand watching it. I even went to a World Cup game back when it was in Detroit. All I did was sit in the suite and drink.
