What You'll Need:
- Chicken Wingettes (found with other chicken at the store)
- Hot Sauce (any kind, your choice)
- Butter
- Skillet
The first thing you will to do is find chicken wingettes. If you have never used these before, they are basically chicken wings that have already been cut in half for you. They are usually with the other chicken products at the grocery store.
You want fully cooked chicken to work with before you start on making them spicy. Take each piece of chicken and fry in a deep fryer until chicken floats. No breading is necessary. You can also bake the chicken, it doesn't really matter. Just as long as the chicken is cooked, you can use any preferred method to cook your chicken first. We just prefer the deep fryer because it's quick and easy.
Once all chicken is cooked, heat a pan of half butter and half hot sauce. Fry your chicken in the pan on both sides. The longer you cook it the more spicy the chicken will be. Just make sure you have enough butter and hot sauce in your pan because you don't want the chicken to burn or the pan to get "gunky".
Yes it really is THAT simple! Serve with your favorite dipping sauce such as ranch or blue cheese dressing (my personal favorite). Since you are cooking the chicken before making it spicy, you can set aside a few wings for kids or adults who don't want it spicy. This is what I normally do when I get in the mood for this yummy recipe - I set aside some without hot sauce for the kids, and fry up the others for myself.
These spicy chicken wings are great by themselves or as an appetizer. Usually we eat them all by themselves with a side of vegetables (corn seems to be a family favorite, so it's usually our vegetable of choice with most meals). They also are good with homemade bread if you happen to own a bread machine as well.
As with any spicy chicken wings, these are a bit on the messy side. But they are oh so good, and you'll absolutely love them!
Enjoy!
