Spicy Hot Superbowl Chili Men Will Love

Karen Gros
Looking for a great dish to serve while the gang is watching the Superbowl? Here is my hearty chili recipe that is guaranteed to fill you up and wake up your tastes buds!

Spicy Hot Superbowl Chili

Ingredients Needed:
Ground beef, ground chuck or ground round, 1 to 2 lbs.
1 large onion
Fresh garlic or garlic powder
Ground cayenne pepper
Black Pepper or white pepper if preferred
Tony Chachere's Seasoning blend
Mexene Chili Powder
Green onions (3-4 per pound of meat)
Flour (one tablespoon per pound of meat)
Can of Rotel tomatoes with green chili peppers or other peppers if desired (use one can per pound of meat)
1 can of red kidney beans per pound of meat

This is really an easy dish to make and pretty quick. It is also a great dish to cook ahead and have ready to serve to guests. In this case, an entrée for the Superbowl, which makes it a perfect dish to transfer to a crock pot after cooking to where it can be served up at any time.

Let's get started!

Directions

Brown ground meat in large pot. I use a 5 quart pot and this is plenty big enough to brown 2 lbs. of meat. Once browned, remove excess fat. Now you are ready to throw in the onion chopped up finely. Add fresh chopped garlic at this time and about ¼ teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper, a dash of black or white pepper, 1 teaspoon of Mexene Chili Powder and dash of Tony Chachere's Seasoning Blend. The dash of Tony's is optional. It just adds a bit more spice to the chili. Stir and let simmer for about 5 minutes.

Next you can add the can of Rotel tomatoes and your red kidney beans. You can also cook red beans to add to the mixture if you have the time and prefer this over canned beans. Use the empty Rotel can to add one can of water. I use the one can rule for one pound of meat and two cans for two pounds of meat.

Then you are ready to sprinkle about a tablespoon of flour over chili and stir. This makes the gravy thicker. You may want to add more than one tablespoon.

Let chili simmer for about 20 minutes and you are ready for the taste test. Adjust any spices by adding more of any that you think needed to zip up the flavor. The last addition will be a couple of green onions finely chopped.

If you are a veteran at consuming super hot chili, substitute the Rotel tomatoes with jalapenos and add more cayenne pepper to your chili. This will give you a red hot chili flavor!

Homemade chili can be served over rice, with crackers or with shredded cheese added as a topping. Enjoy!
