Spider Lady is Tired of Turkey

Spider Lady Gives You the Bird with Thanksgiving and Turkey Facts

Spider Lady
My friend Arthur was born on the 4th of July. When he was growing up, his mother would tell him the parades and fireworks were for him...

I, on the other hand was born on Thanksgiving. There was turkey, turkey, turkey, there was enough to last for days. There was turkey in a sandwich with a little mayonnaise. And, for all you turkeys stuffing turkey in you caws, I sending you turkey jerky to exercise your jaws... Check out the turkey recipe on weathat.com. and stuff it with Watkins recipe for popcorn stuffing. Take your turkey and stuff it! I am going out for ham.

Being born on thanksgiving does not mean you have the day off. Because Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month it can fall anywhere between the 22nd of November and the 28th. . No matter what the date is your still getting pie. It could be squash, pumpkin, sweet potato on mince meat. But I promised pie. And if your lucky you will get Indian bread pudding, too. An I was most likely baking it myself. I spent too many years cooking the whole fixings for three days, only to have family gobble for 15 minutes and run back to the ball game. So, Cracker Barrel her I come. For those who haven't tried it, they Cracker Barrel offers a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with all the "fixins" for $8.69 for adults and $3.99 for children. The feast begins at 11 a.m. at stores nationwide and includes turkey and gravy, dressing, baked country ham, vegetables, pumpkin pie and more. It's no Green Ridge Turkey Farm, but it's pretty darn good. (Most New Englander's have a fond memory of the long lost restaurant in Nashua New Hampshire that served sumptuous Thanksgiving meals.)

Here are some little known Thanksgiving and Turkey Facts:

Turkey is a subcategory of pheasants. They early settlers misidentified them as a type of cock name after the country of origin: Turkey.

Though the pilgrims did a feast after their first harvest, they would have celebrated a day of "Thanksgiving" with a fast, not a feast.

At the feast celebration the "Indians" severed venison.

The fowl that was served most likely duck, geese and swan.

The Pilgrims did not serve pie.

They may have cut hole in the pumpkin tops; removed seeds and filled the insides with milk, spices and honey, and baked in among the hot ashes .

The feast most likely serve roasted squash and long strips of roasted pumpkin.

The "Indians" also taught them to use long strips of pumpkin to weave mats.

Cranberry come from evergreen shrubs .

Cranberry's got their name because they are the favorite food of the crane.

Cranberry's can keep up to nine months and help prevent tooth decay.

Hope this makes some Turkey's smarter. Have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

Quite interesting, but I wonder why they would have had a fast not a feast and why they did not have pies. My sister's BD is the 24th and she did not mind the thought of spending her BD in the hospital one year, but was mad that she was missing the Thanksgiving meal on the 23rd, when her daughter was born. Since that time, of course, one or the other's BD falls on Thanksgiving often. We are a baking family (even some of the brothers and nephews) so when that would happen, someone would show up with a birthday cake and they did get the Happy Birthday song.
