Spiderman to Sling onto Broadway

With Spiderman 3 set to hit theatres in just a few weeks, sources have released that the web-slinging superhero will also be hitting the Big Apple this summer with a different vantage point. Although one would assume that Spiderman's summer vacation would include crime fighting, no one would have guessed that he was planning on dancing..on Broadway. Sources have confirmed that the Marvel Comics legend will be hitting Broadway , and will be directed by Julie Taymor of The Lion King fame.

Actors and actresses have not been chosen for the project thus far leaving the parts of Peter Parker, Norman Osborn, MaryJane Watson, and J. Jonah Jameson up for grabs. The Broadway adaptation is also said to include Arachne- "a beautiful, boastful young woman turned into a spider for her hubris and lack of respect for the gods. She subsequently appears to Peter Parker and the audience as in turn a powerful spider-woman who comes from another time to inspire Peter; an otherworldly lover; a bride; a terrifying (and sexy) dark goddess of vengeance; a dance partner in a charged and violent spiders dance of death; and, finally, a lonely, fragile young woman." Creators are also searching for a "Geek Chorus"- a group of 3 teenaged boys who's job will be to methodically reinerate the greatest Spiderman tales of all time.

The musical score, with a rock/pop influence will be penned by Bono and The Edge of U2.

This news comes directly after rumors had been released that Spideman 4 may be a no-go, leaving the film after the end of the trilogy . Some have speculated that Peter Jackson and Tobey McGuire will both be leaving the franchise after Spiderman 3. Jackson is said to be directing the film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit which would leave Spiderman 4 in an indefinite standstill.

This is the dumbest idea Sam Raimi has ever come up with. He should go back to his shitty horror movies because he is sending spider-man downhill. Who would pay to see Spider-Man as a musical? You'd have to be retarded, gay or a bitch.

I thought that this was really cool. Thanks for doing an article about it.

I'm a fan of the movies, but Broadway? Might just been interesting.

It's Spider-Man, so it's going to be interesting.

For the record- the source that I used for this story confused Sam Raimi with Peter Jackson, as Raimi was a potential for the Hobbit....I apologize for the bad info-

LOL, this sounds interesting. Hmmm, a singing and dancing Spiderman.

Bunting Resources -- I thought the same thing! Raimi did in fact direct all the Spider-man movies including the 3rd one. I'm actually a little curious to see how this will play out! I haven't heard anything about it but...I don't doubt it all! Interesting...

unless this is a very elaborate hoax, this is the real deal. I only say that because this seems like something so odd that there is no way it is true but it is. lol I can picture it now..."the hills are alive with the sounds of arachnia!!"

Singing Spidy? It could be very good or very bad. We'll just have to wait and see.

I am a little confused here "Some have speculated that Peter Jackson and Tobey McGuire will both be leaving the franchise after Spiderman 3." Sam Raimi directed the Spiderman movies, not Peter Jackson.
