Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire) Will Return!

Well, it is official - Tobey Maguire will return to the big screen for a fourth and even fifth installment of the hit, box-office smash, Spider-Man, which already has three feature films under its belt. Sam Raimi is once again involved in the production of what are two highly anticipated films to come, and though he has directed the previous three installments, it is unknown whether he will direct the fourth and fifth in the series.

But the return appearance of one familiar face is still up in the air according to www.aceshowbiz.com and MTV. Kirsten Dunst has played the role of Mary Jane Watson, Peter Parker's next door neighbor and primary love interest. Though both Kirsten and Sam Raimi have both expressed interest in working together again, it is uncertain whether or not Mary Jane Watson will be a part of the new storyline. If not, then Kirsten will not be, either.

Though filming is not scheduled to begin on Spider-Man 4 until sometime in early 2010, and there are no scripts for either movie to date, Sam Raimi says the films will be connected story-wise; whether or not the films will actually be shot back-to-back also remains to be seen. James Vanderbilt, writer of the film Zodiac is in charge of writing the screenplay.

Details on any major villains to appear in Spider-Man 4 or 5 have not been released either; though there is of course much internet speculation. Fans of the movie and comic book series alike predict Dr. Curt Connors, who was played by Dylan Baker in Spider-Man 3, will make his transformation into The Lizard, per the events that took place in the comic book. Others speculate that Mary Jane's ex-fiancé John Jameson might undergo his transformation into the villainous Man-Wolf.

One thing, however, can be certain - Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 are sure to be huge hits at box offices all around the world, just as the first three were. Fans from all walks of life are already familiar with the Spider-Man series and the character as played by Tobey Maguire. And most, if not all are hungry for more. Be on the lookout for Spider-Man 4 movie trailers coming your way in a couple of years - if history has taught us anything, it is that the next two installments of the Spider-Man film series will indeed be well worth the wait.
