John Sayles (Matewan) has recreated these wonderful stories in his new movie Spiderwick Chronicles. He's chosen a capable cast with Joan Plowright as Aunt Lucinda, David Straithorn as Uncle Arthur Spiderwick, Nick Nolte as the ogre Mulgarath, Martin Short as the Brownie Thimbletack and Seth Rogan as the hobgoblin Hogsqueal. Creature character names have a Dickens-like onomatapeia sound to them; you can visualize the character from his name.
If you enjoyed The Spiderwick Chronicles, book and/or movie, how about some free coloring pages depicting Hogsqueal, Mulgarath, Thimbletack, Jared, Simon, Mallory, Spiderwick Estate, sylphs, faeiries, ogres, hobgoblins and a griffin.
