thinking of coming down
thinking it might hang around in the clouds for a while
might lay low for a while
might just dissipate, turn to mist
fall onto some obscure plain on some continent
nobody cares about
nobody's heard about
let it out
let it fall
if nobody sees it
how could even have
happened at all
this is the grey sky, breaking and spiraling
down into rivers of doubt
insecurity
washing the grime and the filth of
propriety
off like a virus
like some kind of rash-causing
oil you rubbed onto you
walking a path that you
shouldn't have been on
that wasn't mapped out that was
hidden on paper
not marked with a sign
and you saw just a bit of it
deep in the underbrush
clearing you walked through the thorn vines
the sticker plants
bloody and itchy and bruised and alone
and you fell
and the rain was around you
and fell
and the sky was around you and
fell
and the ground stayed dry
and i soaked up your breath
and i tasted your words
all the ones left unsaid and my hands
let go
and my hands
let go.
