Spiritual Healing for the Freelance Writer

Lorraine Hayden
As freelance writers we often jump from one project to another without stopping to appreciate what we have already done. Sometimes we also lower our standards and our enthusiasm for writing turns into just another rat race in the goal of making money.

As we grow as writers, it is important that we have a healthy emotional balance in our lives. Balance escapes our lives as we focus on one thing at the expense of another. It is vital to understand that we are in charge of our time. Take time out if needed; remember a well rested mind and calm spirit produces quality writing.

Sometimes we become overwhelmed with the pressures of writing, caring for the children, making sure the household duties are not being neglected and seeing to the needs of your significant other. We do it all but still feel it is not enough. This is when we need to sit back and give it all to our Higher Power. Put the focus on Him and remember He will not give us more than we can handle. With this in focus, it will be easier for us to prioritize our lives.

The same basically goes for frustration. You have an idea for a great article, but your spouse is distracting you by talking about the game his favorite sports team won. For men, it could be your wife is discussing the latest goings on at the local beauty shop. This can be very distracting. That is why it is so important to initiate a quite time schedule. Let your family and friends know that you require a few hours of alone time during the day or evening to write.

Anxiety levels can run high in the world of web content writing. It can be emotionally paralyzing to run and go check you email inbox every few minutes to see if offers have been made on your work. This can control who you are and leave room for noting else in your life. It is best to write, submit and let it go. Avoid becoming a slave to your email inbox.

Finally, in dealing with rejection and disappointments, reality is not everyone is going to love your work. Others may not feel passionately about a subject as you do. Rejection can lead you to go against you true uniqueness and try to fit in with the crowd. The key is to embrace patience; you can prosper both financially and spiritually. Learn and study what it takes to become a successful freelance writer. In becoming a successful freelance writer, you do not have to compromise who you are and overlook those around you.

What an awesome article! You gave me something to think about, and my hubby often does bother me when I am writing, yet he expects silence during a football game on t.v.

Great article. I think writers are always so busy looking around for ideas, and time to put those ideas to paper (or screen), that we forget to get a little perspective on things. Oh, we are so tied to the email inbox!
