Spiritual Living 101 - Regaining Energy Through Meditation
Regain Your Personal Energy Using Meditation Techniques
Daily life can take its toll on our energy reserves. We've all been there, feeling tired, run-down and even depressed. Through the use of meditation and visualization, we can get back some of the energy that we've expended, and get back our motivation and enjoyment of life.
Before you start drawing energy, you need to find surroundings that are conducive to relaxation. You don't want to be so relaxed that you might fall asleep, but you need to be comfortable. First, decide whether you prefer quiet or sounds. If you enjoy quiet, try to find an empty room, or a space outside where you won't be distracted for a while. If you like sounds, you can use a stereo, your computer or an MP3 player to provide you with the music you enjoy.
The next step is to get physically comfortable. You might lay down if you're sure you won't fall asleep, or you may choose to sit on the ground, floor or in a comfy chair. Do whatever feels right to you, and allows you to relax your body and be free of discomfort. Some people even meditate in the shower or bath.
Once you've selected your music (or lack thereof) and your comfortable position, it's time to start the meditation. The first thing you need to do is slow your breathing, and calm your mind and body. Relax the tension from your muscles, and shut out the thoughts of daily life. Clear your mind as completely as you can.
Now, try to think of something that makes you feel happy and energized. Maybe you feel best under the light of a full moon, on a river bank in the bright sun, or in a field during a storm. Whatever it is for you, picture that in your mind. Try to imagine it with as much clarity as possible. Feel the air, hear the water, smell the grass, see the lightning. Whatever it is, try to imagine it with all your senses.
As you visualize your perfect scene, try to experience the feeling of joy, fulfillment and energy. Put yourself in the moment. Imagine that you can draw energy from everything in your perfect world. You soak it up like a sponge until you are full again. Continue visualizing and experiencing this feeling until you feel energized again. When you feel recharged enough, come out of the meditation and relax for a few moments before going back to your normal routine.
This method may be difficult in the beginning, but as you become more able to visualize and experience the sensations, you will be able to draw more energy during your sessions. You can do this as often as you need, whether it's once a month or once a day. Keep practicing, and you'll be able to re-energize yourself any time you feel the need.
