Spiritual Peace in a Tough Economy

Shaila D Touchton
Christians are called to do their best work through the worst of times.God is not only concerned with the spiritual life of God's followers, but that God also cares deeply about their economic life. When you seek God, His hand will be upon your life for good. When you diligently seek God he will fulfill all your desires ,he will make you prosper, and rewards you perfectly. Here is what Gods word says 2 Corinthians 8:9:For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Proverbs 10:22:The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

Psalm 35:27; Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

3 John 1:2:Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth

If you have been seeking God and you have not yet received your expected reward, don't give up. we need to remember Galatians 6:9 advises you not to grow weary in well doing, because you will see benefits and you will receive rewards if you faint not.

God will multiply and restore everything that you sacrifice in order to effectively follow Him.When you acknowledge God and surrender everything to him by confessing your sins, and obeying his commandments and living righteously,God will be in control - of EVERYTHING and at ALL TIMES.

The Bible says so in Jeremiah 29:11:"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

God wants you to succeed you are told to "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3

The next possible thing one can do is breaking the stronghold of poverty in Jesus Name."The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up" (1 Samuel 2:7). Remember that the Lord can help you. Even if you are poor to the things of the world, you may still be rich in spirit."Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf" (Proverbs 11:28).

We also see in Old Testament ,that God leads the Israelites out of the oppressive household of Pharaoh, out of slavery and into freedom, establishing a new household and a new economic system. God cares for the physical needs of the Israelites, providing manna in the desert. God gives the law, which not only teaches the proper forms of worship, but also sets out an economic and political framework for the Israelites to live by, designed to assure a just distribution of resources.

Even in the midst of bad economy , God always provides and cares for his people who follow him , who seek him and be obedient to him in all ways.Paul wrote in Phil 4:19:And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

God Is More Then Able.Heb 11:6 says "without faith it is impossible to please God: for he that cometh to God must BELIEVE that HE IS, and he is a reward of them that DILIGENTLY seek Him."You may say to yourself, 'My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.' But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your forefathers, as it is today" (Deuteronomy 8:17-18).Acknowledge the Lord as the provider of every need you have today. He is a faithful provider.God has sworn to meet our material needs and he's able to meet our material needs. He wants us to know and deal with him as the Provider-God, as well as the God of grace. God's promise is "His bread will be supplied, and water will not fail him." (Isaiah 33:16).

Christians also can cover their financial situations with the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. There is power in the name of Jesus only because He shed His own Blood and offered it to His Father, who thereupon gave His power and His authority to His Son (Matthew 28:18). This same power and authority is given to all believers (Luke 10:19), but it only becomes operative as we honor His blood. The blood was the token of protection from the destroyer.

The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just! - Proverbs 13: 22.In the same way we need to in faith apply the blood of Jesus Christ and claim our benefits through that precious sacrifice in the Name of Jesus Christ and get protected.

The Bible tells us to share generously with those in need, and good things will come to us in turn. We are not meant to live hard-hearted or self-centered lives. He who gives to the poor will never want, but he who shuts his eyes will have many curses. (, Proverbs 28:27).our good deeds should be motivated by a sincere desire to help others. There are other people whom the Bible calls righteous who were blessed by God with great wealth. God blessed Job with great wealth after Job was tested. He also blessed Abraham and David with wealth.Yet at the same time the Bible tells us that the blessing of wealth is not a reward God gives to those who are lazy. Again in Proverbs we read, "He who works his land will have abundant food, but he who chases fantasies lacks judgment" .The Bible tells us that it is through noble qualities that wealth is obtained through hard work, diligence, sacrifice and that failure to do those things will result in poverty.

Excellent article, Shaila. Truth resides in your words. I know this, I have experienced it. Yet my heart groans for what I see around me. So many Christians, people who clearly love the Lord, yet bound in the mist of great struggle. I long to help them. I pray for them. I sometimes give to them. But other times, the Spirit within tells me that I am permitted only to pray for their growth. Let us never condemn nor judge the Christian walk based upon anyone's current physical or economic condition. But let us always be willing to recognize a rebellious spirit, and have the courage to speak truth into a troubled life, including our own. Thanks for the great words of remindance.

Very good article. Thank you for this timely reminder everything we need will come from God. "They that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings of eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isa 40:31)." God bless...

This wonderful article reminds me of the previous one. Trust in man or GOd, man in this case is us. We can know that if we are faithful and giving, including to the poor and to our local church, God will never allow us to beg bread and will remain trustworthy if we walk in His ways. Fine work as always Shaila. Just love it.
