to cry for love and peace instead of war
hate minefields that dot the world
trapping men, women and children to their deaths
for the sake of greed and power
when will the hypocrisy end
and mankind face the animal within
he feeds night and day to obesity?
where does it end?
when will Christmas come to those who suffer
and those whose hearts are white
drained of any trace of blood of humanity?
The baby Jesus came to save us
so the Bible says
but save us from what? Or from whom?
The animals in the wild do not bother us we are safe
But the two legged animals like ourselves
dog each other at every turn
in China, Asia, Africa, South America,
Europe, North America
we are hunted and slaughtered and left bare
on the face of the earth?
It's Christmas and love and laughter
and the ring of jingle in the cash machines
ring out so loud even the deaf can hear
It's hollow ring is the cue from voices
of those who call us to shop
until we drown in our own debt
and buried in the pit of our material addiction
Let this Christmas be different
Let the light of the kindness and love find its way
Lets meditate of this Great Spirit birth
and celebrate it in gratitude
Lay down your machine guns and defuse the bombs
Let us spread goodwill and cheer
let the jingle bells call us back to our humanity
in the name of Buddism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism or Christianity
Let us be one in spirit for we are one.
