Spiritual Treason

Are There Any Surprises Left in the World?

David A. Reinstein, LCSW

In a world where
Vaginas can be chronicled
And liberation
Was once Symbionized,
It should come as no surprise
To anyone
That even Satan might wind up
Canonized.

Logic has abandoned us,
Or so it often seems;
When waking in a shivering
Cold sweat
Unable to clearly distinguish
Our nightmares
From our dreams.

Topsy has turned turvy
And the West has shifted East,
There is no neon six-six-six
To flash a warning
Of the coming beast.
What's lost is an increase
And he who has saved the most
Will die enjoying the least.

Predictable redundancies
Become forgotten lyrics of a song,
As we realize that
Everything we thought we knew
Will be forever wrong.
A season without reason
To those of undying faith,
I may be guilty of
Spiritual treason.

Treason is a risky trade in any business. Good poem layout.

Great job once again. I like the more somber tone you used here, because the message is both important and badly needed. We're going stir crazy in our societies and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

David, I stopped having nightmares a long time ago. I do not "fear the beast" because I have a Defender :) cheers
