Experience is the source of wisdom. The more experienced we become the more wisdom we accumulate. Experience has no connection with age. Spiritual experiences are attained through the power of a divine intellect.
Spiritual disciplines or commands of God are like seeds. Obedience to spiritual disciplines is watering of the seed. Spiritual growth is the tree that grows. Experiences are the "flowers" that blossom. The flowers of experiences get matured and become fruits of wisdom. The fruits of wisdom nourish the soul and give the spiritual energy and strength to progress in the path of truth and take a place in the heart of God.
God has given to all his children spiritual disciplines or commands which are seeds. Even if the seed for a wonderful fruit-bearing tree is given to a person, watering the seed i.e. obedience to the spiritual commands or disciplines is very important. If the person does not have value for the spiritual commands and disciplines and remains careless, there will be no spiritual growth, no experiences, and hence will have no wisdom. Obedience to God's commands is the way to get spiritual experiences and for attaining Godly wisdom.
God does not directly give the fruit of wisdom. God gives the spiritual knowledge of the eternal truth and the fundamental laws that govern humanity. The seeds of eternal spiritual knowledge in the form of commands are sown into every human being time to time through various scriptures. A man who has love for God will have love for God's words. If we do not follow God's words, our love for God is false.
Experience does not come with physical maturity but through spiritual maturity. A person becomes spiritually matured by having true love for God, love for God's words, and truthfulness in following the commands of God without any adulteration of one's own attitudes. Surrender to God with love and not out of compulsion or necessity is the way for attaining wisdom. Surrendering one's ego completely to God and remaining egoless opens the doors of Godly wisdom. A person can become wise only by being humble and egoless. Wisdom will evade a person who has arrogance of intellect.
Just as we get butter by churning buttermilk, we get wisdom by churning the knowledge given by God through scriptures. Introversion is the method to extract wisdom from our own past experiences. Introversion helps in watching the thought processes going on inside our mind and for correcting impure thoughts.
We need to learn lessons from our mistakes and take the correct route for making spiritual progress. Mistakes are committed because of ignorance. Ignorance makes a person run behind illusions ignoring spiritual disciplines. Realization of our mistakes brings transformation in our life.
Apostle Paul gives a direction in Romans 12:2, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." It is clear from the above verse that transformation or spiritual progress comes by renewal of the mind which is possible only by attaining wisdom. Wisdom comes by disciplining the mind and focusing the mind on God. A person need not get old to attain spiritual maturity but should have a deep yearning for attaining spiritual wisdom and should be focused towards the goal of attaining spiritual wisdom.
