Since my family is vacationing in Statesboro, Georgia for the summer, there was no way to get out of going to Splash in the Boro. Splash, the only local waterpark is seen from Mill Creek Park and this year I surprised the kids with a day at Splash. The park has several age appropriate water areas, and is surrounded by large, bright-colored umbrellas with lounge chairs.

Our arrival

We pre-ordered our tickets so we did not have to wait in line, which was not as long as I expected. My family also went to the park during the work week, which also meant shorter lines.

When arriving to the park, we made a bee-line to the back area of the park so we could get a set of beach chairs, and a huge umbrella. After getting comfortable, I took a good look at the park. It was so clean, and offered a lot for my kids, four and six.

The Spray Ground

Appropriately named, the spray ground has an area with three straight slides and a windy slide. The area includes a wading pool that leads to an area with interactive spray apparatuses.

My children loved this area. The wading pool was 1.5" high, which is good for young children sliding into the water, and learning to swim. My children were not intimidated, so I was able to sit in the wading area and catch some rays.

In the Spray Ground, the slides are a favorite among the kids. With the four slides, the lines move quickly so kids are not waiting for long periods of time.

Play Pool

Both of my kids enjoyed the Play Pool that offers slides, tunnels and climbing area. The Play Pool is suitable for all ages, but my four-year old felt the area too rough with the older kids. The water in this area is also cooler than the other pools, even though it is only three feet deep.

In this area, there is a large red splash bucket in the center that fills each minute until it reaches 600 gallons. Then, pours it out. My daughter and I would stand under it, waiting for the splash bucket to unleash. The water would release in a heavy down pour and my daughter loved it. The water would knock her over, and she would stand up and laugh.

Slides

My children were too small for the "body" and tube slide, but it was a fun option for my nephew, nine. The line for this ride was much longer, but moved quickly. We decided to use the double tube, and he sat in the front with me in the back.

We enjoyed the first ride down, but we moved slowly. It was after this I found the secret to a fast paced ride. Once seated in the tube, I lifted myself so my toosh would not drag and I pulled us forward by using the sides of the tunnel. Wow, did we move. We went down the tunnel very fast, and caught air before we landed in the water.

Lazy River days

Whether I was with my kids or not, I loved the Lazy River. It surrounded the water areas, and had easy walk ways to enter and exit. There were several sized tubes, making it easy to share a tube with a small child if needed.

Instead of hanging my legs across the tubes, I let my legs hang in the center and sat my little guy on the top. He was able to lean against me while holding the handles. Had I been there without my children, I would have taken full advantage of the lazy river, and floated until the staff kicked me out of the park.

Other areas to swim

Although we mainly stayed in the Spray Ground, Play Pool and the Slides, there are places such as the Flowrider, Mat Racer, and a full swimming and therapy pool. Since my children are learning to swim, we did better in the shallow water, but it was great to know there are other options.

Lifeguards on duty

For each area, there were several lifeguards. For the most part, each lifeguard made sure the kids met the requirements to ride. There were a few, who were not attentive, which made the lines a complete mess. Bigger kids were cutting in the lines, causing smaller children to wait their turn several times over.

Concessions

Splash in the Boro also has a concession stand, but we did not buy any items there. I did look at the menu though, and the prices were comparable to most parks or restaurants.

Overall feeling of the park

My family really enjoyed the park, and returned the following week. Splash offers a full day of activities for a good price. The price is setby height, 48" or below is $10, or $8 with a discount. If you are 48", the price is $12, or $10 with a discount.
