Splashdown Dakota Indoor Water Park Review: North Dakota's First Waterpark Located in Minot, North Dakota
Minot, ND 58701
United States of America
Sleep Inn & Suites and its water park, Splashdown Dakota, is located right behind Dakota Square Mall in Minot. Splashdown Dakota Water Park is super convenient for hotel guests to pad down to the water park during their stay, and it's open to the general public as well. Splashdown Dakota is spacious at 24,000 square feet and is North Dakota's first indoor water park.
Splashdown Dakota Water Park - Entertainment
This three-story water park features three 260-foot water slides, including one completely enclosed slide that starts indoor, swoops the rider outside in a spiral descent, then back inside just in time to dump the rider into the landing pool.
My kids and I went down the yellow indoor slide, since we were told it was the slowest one at Splashdown Dakota. We huddled together and we were hurled down the slide at breakneck speeds. There were a couple times I honestly thought we were going to slide right over the edge of the wall of the slide. All three of us came away with minor scrapes and bruises. While extremely fun, the water slides at Splashdown Dakota are not for the faint-hearted.
For those a bit less adventurous, there is the basic swimming pool perfect for laps or a decent game of catch with the beach ball.
The kids can have plenty of fun too at Splashdown Dakota. The shallow kiddie pool features smaller slides: the duck slide and the slightly larger frog slide. My kids had a blast going down these slides over and over and over again.
Also featured in the kiddie pool at Splashdown Dakota are a mushroom "shower" and a water bucket dump for those wanting the thrill of being surprised without having to risk life and limb on the water slides.
For those needing a break from the hustle and bustle of the Splashdown Dakota water park entertainment, tucked back in the corner is a clover-shaped hot tub which seats 45 people. Because I had my children with I wasn't able to relax in the hot tub, but the temperature was perfect for the five minutes my kids let me sit in the Splashdown Dakota hot tub.
Splashdown Dakota Water Park - Prices
Because we were guests at the Sleep Inn & Suites hotel, we didn't have to pay anything extra to use the Splashdown Dakota water park. For the general public, the price is $11.95 per day on the weekends and $8.95 per day weekdays for ages five and up.
Splashdown Dakota Water Park - Final Verdict
Even though we weren't brave enough to fully enjoy the 260-foot water slides at Splashdown Dakota water park, my kids and I had a great time. The price is reasonable for a day-long romp in the water for the whole family. As my three-year-old daughter said, Splashdown Dakota water park is "super cool!"
