Kansas Splashdown Indoor Water Park is located within the Grand Prairie Hotel & Convention Center. The center is located at 1400 North Lorraine, Hutchinson, KS 67501. This is just 3 blocks west of K-61 and 17th Avenue intersections.
When I walked into the water park area, I was impressed right away. There are several choices of water park activities. You can play in the lunar lander or Mercury rocket which are in very shallow water. The Mercury rocket dumps hundreds of gallons of water at blast off. The lunar lander has water cannons to shoot.
Next to the shallow area you will find basketball hoops. Water depth here ranges from 3 ft. 6 inches to 4 ft. There are 4 basketball hoops and they provide plenty of basketballs for all to have a good time.
As you move on, you can try your skill at stepping on the floating comets, trying to avoid spilling into the pool. Above the comets are ropes to help you along the way. Slide down your choice of 2 water slides. One slide is for body sliding. The other slide is for intertubes. They provide both single and double intertubes for great fun.
As you come off the water slides, you can slip into the "lazy river" which surrounds a moon base island. On the island you will see an astronaut and moon car. The water moves you along so you can just relax on your intertube as you go through. Watch out for those water spouts!
They also offer and over-sizes moon crater, waterfall hot tub. What a great way to relax even more after all your other water park adventures.
You will also find an arcade and a poolside snack bar within the water park.
They also offer birthday party rates. Rates are $12.99 to $18.99 per guest depending on the package you choose. Admission is $10.95 per person ages 3 and up. Ages 2 and under are free. If you just want to come watch, admission is $4.95.
Hours are Weekdays 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, weekends and holidays 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holiday open swim in based on the parks capacity limits.
If you are visiting, and decide to rent a room at the Grand Prairie Hotel & Convention Center, you do receive free passes to the water park. You will receive 4-6 passes depending on the room type rented.
