SpongeBob SquarePants April Fool's Day

Fools in April

SpongeBob SquarePants Fools Himself

"Fools in April" is the episode of SpongeBob Squarepants' favorite holiday...April Fool's Day. If you're a SpongeBob follower, you probably don't notice much difference in his behavior from any other day.

It begins with him fooling his pet snail, Gary, by telling him that they're moving to become peasants. He then snatches Gary's food dish and tells him, "No more food. Peasants only eat mashed up clamshells."

"Meow," says Gary the snail, to which SpongeBob responds in regular overly excited SpongeBob fashion, "April Fool's Day!" He then proceeds to play an April Fool's prank on himself which involves a ridiculously large glass of lemonade and goes to work.

SpongeBob Fools Squidward

Squidward, the easily annoyed next door neighbor, realizes it's April Fool's Day and does what any normal creature would do to avoid pranks from his coworkers. He calls in.

Unfortunately, by this time SpongeBob has acquired a partner in crime, his boss Mr. Krabs, because of course any prank is okay if the boss is in on it. They trick Squidward into not only showing up for work, but dressing up in in an artist costume and actually running to work.

Squidward's Revenge

After a series of other pranks and jokes played on random customers of the Krusty Krab, Squidward decides he has had enough. He avenges himself with his own April Fools gag by having SpongeBob clean up a mess of a mustard circle. SpongeBob is then tossed into a bag of flour, flies into a wall and crashes into the ceiling. He also falls into a garbage can of green gunk after Squidward says he'll catch him and ends up in the shape of the can.

"April Fools, you little sausage! " laughs Squidward. But instead of laughing with Squidward, SpongeBob starts crying and runs away. Of course none of the onlookers in the Krusty Krab think his prank is entertaining either and chastise Squidward for making the innocent SpongeBob cry.

Who Fooled Who

After many discussions with himself, Squidward decides he has to apologize. When he is finally able to force himself to say he's sorry he proclaims his true feelings of love or at lease tolerance, for SpongeBob and the rest of the characters that in every other episode he hates. He only asks that SpongeBob not tell anyone.

"I promise," says SpongeBob and then he opens the door to every being that lives in Bikini Bottom who all yell, "April Fools Day!"

Squidward's only option then is to say that he was actually the one that fooled everyone. The episode ends with SpongeBob wondering what they would do without Squidward, but makes the viewer wonder what we'd do with someone like SpongeBob SquarePants.

What a fun article! I used to watch Spongebob with my niece and she still watches it. When she comes over we watch it together. She is 12 but she enjoys it and so do I. :)
