Sports Champions for the PlayStation 3 was released on September 17, 2010. The game requires the PlayStation Move in order to play. You can play Disc Golf, Bocce, Archery, Sand Volleyball, Table Tennis, and Gladiator Duel. You can buy Sports Champions separately or as a bundle that includes 1 PlayStation Wand, Playstation Eye and Sports Champions.

All of the games in Sports Champions can be played with 1 Wand. However, some games allow you to use 2 Wands. When you do multiplayer then 2 wands are required for all of the games except for Disc Golf and Bocce. Those are the only games that you can play if you only have 1 wand.

Out of the 6 games, Disc Golf is the one I spend the most time playing. You can throw backhand, forehand, overhand, and rollers. It is pretty realistic. I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun it is to play on there. You have 3 different discs to use: the driver, mid-range, and putter. There are 18 different holes and 3 different distances. Using the bronze courses you have the shortest holes, silver is a little longer, and gold gives you the longest holes. You can unlock different discs that you can throw. They don't affect the distances you can throw though. It's just something different to look at.

Table Tennis is pretty fun. There isn't a whole lot that changes with it. You can unlock different areas to play the matches in. You an also unlock different rackets. It's the same thing with Sand Volley. You just unlock different places to play and different balls to use. Smash hit didn't work every time I tried doing them, which is a little annoying.

I had never played Bocce before. It is actually a pretty fun game. I did have problems releasing the ball like I wanted. I'd get backspin when I wasn't trying to get it. What that shows is that the motion controller picks up your movement very well though.

Archery is a blast. You can use 1 or 2 wands with this game. I prefer using 1 because I feel like I am aiming at the ceiling when I'm using 2. With Archery you can shot at targets that are standing still or moving, and there is even when were you can activate a shield that blocks the other person from shooting their target. While it is fun to play Archery, I don't do it for extended amounts of time because my arm starts getting tired after awhile.

Gladiator Dual is the one I play the least. It is fun to play too; I just don't spend a lot of time on it. You can use 1 or 2 wands with this game also, 1 wand for the sword and 1 for the shield. It's like most fighting games, you can win by taking your opponents life all the way down or you can win by knocking them out of the ring.

Overall Sports Champions is a lot of fun. It should take you a little bit to unlock all the different things for each of the 6 games. Playing the game with or against a friend is where most people are going to really enjoy the game. I would like to see them add some downloadable content like new disc golf courses and not just different characters. The other thing that would have made the game even better would be the ability to play against people online. I don't know why it isn't in the game but it is definitely something that should have been. Sports Champions is definitely worth adding to your library. You'll enjoy countless hours of fun with your friends and family.
