Seminoles Fans Prepare for Another Season of Doubt(s)?

Lee Davis
Rumors quickly became facts as Florida State's president confirmed his desire to resign. The Seminole Nation remains under clouds of undetermined outcomes, realizing bad choices yield bad consequences. Secluded under mysterious covers of few facts and little comment, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) spares no expense on investigations but declares bankruptcy when it comes to explanations. Heading into that "little black cloud area" for another year may be all that President T.K Weatherall needed to make his decision.

In an article by Brian Grummell (RSS feed), Florida's Attorney General, Bill McCollum, requested NCAA president, Myles Brand, make public documents related to the Florida State investigation. If not, Attorney General McCollum suggests fines and jail terms may be his choice of weapons. . A "read only" document was posted by the NCAA's "Committee on Infractions". Lawyers are currently discussing violations.

Tribe boosters know the Seminoles rebuttal deadline is June 17, 2009. This response is to the school's appeal to forfeit victories for academic misconduct. Some lean to the thought that this decision by the "Committee on Infractions" is a direct ploy to remove victories from Bobby Bowden, and throw the most college victories record to Penn State's coach Joe Paterno. Most fans would view this as a travesty to declare such a prestigious reward without playing the game?

Florida State Fans have weathered gambling quarterbacks, team stealing, team cheating, drunk quarterbacks, suspended quarterbacks and team members, quarterbacks who could not interpret directional parking signs, some saw Jesus, while others saw worse, some fumbled, dropped passes, no coverage, no line, no yards, and no touchdowns, but to the Florida State Fans, the coaches and players were the best in college football.

The Atlantic Coast Conference continues to gain strength and better talent each season, and it shows. If Florida State plans to regain ACC's number one spot, they need to act now. The "greatness that was" has a chance to return to Doak Campbell Stadium in 2009. Ponder looks good. Having started as freshmen and sophomores for the past two years, the Seminoles should expect good support from the line guys. Noles fans look forward to long passes and amazing receptions and to a line that can hold gator and hurricane rivals. The Noles will field many experienced positions and hope to bring that championship swagger back to Tallahassee.
