Sports News: Tony Parker, Tiger Woods, Derek Jeter

Tony Parker

Getting ditched by his wife, Eva Longoria, doesn't seem to be impacting Tony Parker's basketball game. The Spurs beat the Chicago Bulls last night. Tony Parker was part of the win; he scored 21 points.

However, his normally ebullient persona was missing. He didn't smile during the game, notes ESPN. That may be because Eva Longoria has announced to the public that Tony had an alleged affair with Erin Barry, the wife of his former teammate, Brent Barry.

How will Parker's teammates treat him now that the news is out he allegedly had a fling with a teammate's wife? That isn't very sportsman like behavior. Will the management of the Spurs get involved in this situation, or do they just consider it part of Tony's personal life?

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has recently joined Twitter. It will be interesting to see what tone his tweets have. It will also be of interest to see who he tweets back and forth with. Tiger Woods will always be under intense media scrutiny.

ESPN reports that Tiger recently lost his number one ranking in golf. His game has been off in recent months. Is his career on a fade or is this just a temporary setback as he adjusts to his new life as a single guy?

He told Newsweek that he is trying to regain balance in his personal life. "The pain in my world is more complex and unsettling." He adds "I'm not the same man I was a year ago. And that's a good thing."

As more time passes, Tiger Woods will likely get his gold mojo back. But for now he works on life as a single dad and seeks wisdom.

Derek Jeter

This week may be the timeframe for the Yankees to extend a new contract offer to Derek Jeter, notes the NY Post. The Yankees may offer as much as $45 million dollars for a three-year contract to Jeter.

Jeter has star power now. He may not settle for $45 million. This deal may end up paying out way more than that to Derek Jeter. He brings in a lot of fans and publicity for the Yankees. They know it and will probably be willing to negotiate with Jeter to keep him happy!

My sports salaries are ridiculously high! Athletes are paid so much money to sprint around the field with a little ball flying in the air. They also earn huge amounts from product endorsements.

Many athletes work hard to give back money through charity. Let's hope we see some nice philanthropic efforts from Derek Jeter.

i thought i was surpised about Longoria and Parker ( i mean who cheat on HER) but now a days, with all the athlete gossip, it is just normal news....thankd for the update

If only they played the game on the court and stayed out of the bedroom.

Athletes earn far too much in my opinion too. They earn enough from product endorsements alone, let alone the millions that they earn a year from their team, much of which is funded by the corporate world, leaving Jo Public barely able to afford a ticket to a game these days.

    Great report, thanks Julia!
