With all of this in mind, I have come up with a fun-filled economical boy's birthday party idea:
A Sports Themed Birthday Party for Boys
Transform your yard into an Olympic complex for your next boy's birthday party, complete with various competitive sporting events, ribbons and more.
Set up a basketball net and mark off a free throw line with tape or chalk. Then let each child have 10 chances to make a basket, keep score and offers ribbons to the winners. (It's always a good idea to present all guests with ribbons just for participating so that nobody feels left out.)
Set up a tee ball game and let each boy take 10 swings. And to keep everyone involved, have the other guests field the balls. Keep score of each contestant's hits.
Have each boy take turns hurling a large softball and see who can throw the farthest.
Put up a soccer net and let each boy take turns being the goalie. Let the other participants at your boy's birthday party try to score goals.
Conduct a long jump competition and measure how far each boy can leap.
Create a small putting green with real golf balls and plastic cups. Let the kids try to make a hole in one using Dad's putter.
Design a challenging obstacle course with slides, balls, jump ropes, hula hoops and more. Use a stopwatch to time the competitors.
Your birthday guests should be hungry and tired by now, right? Serve ballpark food like hotdogs, popcorn, peanuts, nachos and ice cream. The boys will love it and it's cheap too! After lunch and gifts, tally up the scores and present ribbons to all!
When it's time to go home, instead of giving gift bags filled with candy and useless trinkets that most moms find annoying, present each guest with an inflatable kick ball that can be purchased for around $3.00. In fact, this entire boy's birthday party idea should be relatively inexpensive to host, considering if you have boys then you probably already own most of the sports equipment necessary!

I recently finished writing my second romance novel, however, I am still waiting patiently to be published. I am a firm believer in the old addage, "write what you know." I always try to follow that credo... View profile
