Sporty Nightclubs, Bars and Restaurants in Boston: For Athletic Singles

Where to Go Around Boston Other Than Hooters and Cheers

Angie Grey
Where do I like to go that's fun, hip and sporty around Boston? First, I like to grab a paper, and walk around Cambridge, bobbling about with a beer chosen from one of the many fine places that have hundreds of varieties of beer before deciding - it's great for a laugh, and makes great wrapping paper for that gift domestic beer to go overseas to a friend, who cannot find Harpoon or Samuel Adams or Boston Brewing Company beer. That is one good way to stay in nightclub invites.

Joe's American Bar and Grill is around, and everyone likes that place, especially people like you and me.

Then, there is the Lizard Lounge, dark lighting, great tunes; if you cannot get up and dance at that place, there must be something wrong with you.

33 Restaurant is excellent and upbeat, and the staff is funnier than a movie, and will hang out with you, as long as you get in and get out during peak hours.

Go to Fenway Park and get a ticket, see a game, and get some cheap eats. Ask the folks at the hot dog stand where they go, and find out where the Boston Red Sox eat. The food might not be the best, however, the tips are usually excellent, especially if you leave off a nightclub invite. The hot dog stand is frequently open around lunchtime, even when no game is playing - call first to make sure that it is.

Champion's Sports Bar and Grill on Huntington Avenue is a place where fans go, rumors fly like strike balls and service is quick.

Bramante Sea Food is located on Northern Avenue and the Boston Fish Pier, great view of traffic or of the pier, depending on where you are sitting - lots of opportunities to get fresh air and fresher commentaries.

Top Shelf health food on Charles Street is another place that the athletes shop at, and it is a very active place to go, the store tends to be busy in the evenings, as is O and Co on Newbury Street, which is a very happening pick-up joint on frisky Friday night.

Gold's Gym is open twenty four hours per day, and you can pick up all the weights you want, plus it has an excellent juice bar - the Boston Athletic Club is more local, and more upscale, and has more opportunities to mingle. Getting a free pass from the website is fast and easy, and it's a good way to work off all those extra calories. The Boston Athletic Club is a social club for athletes.
