Spot Shot Instant Carpet Spot Remover: Not Worth My Money

Donna Noble
In my quest for the perfect carpet spot remover, one of the products I tried was Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover. Like many stain removers on the market, this product was marketed as a spray that would tackle even the toughest carpet stains without requiring scrubbing. Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover was also guaranteed to remove odors from pet stains. In my opinion, this carpet spot remover would have been better left on the shelf than occupying a place in my closet.

In my home carpet spot removers are used nearly every day on pet stains or food stains and the occasional grease or dirt tracked into the house from the garage. Needless to say I need something that will take care of the problem with minimal scrubbing. I also desire something that does not leave a lingering smell throughout my home. The last thing I want when I walk in the door is to notice the smell of carpet cleaners rather than the smell of air fresheners I have throughout the house.

The first thing I noticed when opening the spray bottle of Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover was that the solution in the bottle had an unpleasant smell. A smell that actually reminded me of urine rather than something that would make the smell of actual urine disappear from my carpet. After testing the cleaner on a small area I decided to give it a try on a newer stain. My first thought was that the product might actually be working because the area I had sprayed looked lighter than it had before. However once the solution dried the spot still looked as dark as it did before the treatment. I suppose it may not have been as noticeable on darker carpet but on cream colored carpet the results were not what I had hoped for. As for set in stains I had no luck with removing these either. All the spot remover did was make the carpet wet.

For my money this carpet spot remover was less than impressive and I would never purchase it again. While the price was less than other carpet spot removers the quality was below average. Spot Shot Instant Carpet Stain Remover can be found in the cleaning supply aisle of your local department store, though I recommend spending an extra dollar or two more for a product that will actually remove stains and not leave an unpleasant odor.

Personally I love Spot Shot. I wouldn't think it could make the entire house smell bad since it's just for spots. I've never had that issue. I guess it depends on what you're using it for. I didn't know Spot Shot is labeled for pet odors. I think it works great on stains, but I would use an odor-neutralizing product or natural baking soda for pet odors. Blot up as much liquid as possible, and go over the area with clear water. Pour baking soda over the wet spot, and give it a couple of days to pull out the pet stain and odor. Vacuum up the baking soda along with the smell and the stain. This really works. Older stains usually will not come out no matter what you use.

Duh%21 What do you think%3F The stain is going to disappear into thin air by floating away. Spot Shot works great. It will remove almost anything and bring it to the surface but you need to Blot It with a rag. Read the instructions. You probably don%27t like your car because it doesn%27t drive itself.
