SPP! Ranch on Facebook: Game Guide, Hints and FAQ

Clean Up Animal Poop on Facebook's SPP! Ranch

Jessie Kay
SPP! Ranch is an animal raising game on Facebook. At first glance, this Facebook game looks like another Farmville spinoff, but its focus is raising animals, not growing crops. Developed by Slide, Inc. (the makers of the popular SuperPoke! applications), SPP! Ranch has cute graphics, smooth gameplay and adorable animations. Here are some tips and FAQs for playing SPP! Ranch on Facebook.

What does SPP! Stand for?
SPP stands for Super Poke Pets. SPP! Ranch is a spinoff of the Super Poke Pets application and offers many similar features, including picking up animal poop.

How do I earn XP to level up?
Here are all the ways players earn XP in SPP! Ranch:

Feeding animals:
Feeding animals on your ranch earns 10XP for each bite. Feeding your neighbors' animals earns 1 XP for each bite.

Cleaning messes:
Cleaning messes on your ranch earns 50 XP and cleaning your neighbors' messes earns 10XP.

Refilling water tank:
Refill your ranch's tank earns 10XP and filling your neighbors' tank earns 3XP per neighbor.
Also, players earn XP once per day via the Daily Bonus Egg for your ranch and your neighbors' ranches. The amount earn varies each day. The Daily Bonus Egg is the bouncing gold egg located near your ranch's fence. Once clicked on, it disappears.

Why won't my animals eat?
Animals will not eat food when they are not hungry. If they are hungry and are still not eating the food, it's possible that an item is preventing the animal from eating the food. Try rearranging your layout.

I received a popup that says an animal is trapped. What does this function do?
Like most social networking games, this popup allows you to post a message to the Facebook feed asking your friends to help. In SPP! Ranch, when your friends help free the animal, you receive 200 coins. To see your SPP! Ranch friends' trapped animals, make sure you do not block the SPP! Ranch application from your Facebook feed.

How do I expand my ranch?
Expand your ranch by leveling up. The first ranch land upgrade unlocks at level four. Players must purchase the land upgrades in sequence. In other words, before you can purchase the 24x24 ranch, you must purchase the 20x20 and 22x22 ranch. As of March 2010, the largest ranch available is 34x34.

How do I get the Valentine's Day or Snowy backgrounds? In the shopping area, it says they are sold out.
These backgrounds were limited edition items. Once they are sold out, they're gone for good.

All of my animals have been fed, yet the extra food bags remain on the ground. How do I remove them?
The extra bags disappear on their own. To speed up the process, refresh your browser.

Once an animal is fully grown, do I have to set it free?
No, but setting an animal free is the best way to earn coins and level up in the game. Keeping all your animals stalls your progress.

How do I get more neighbors?
Ask your current Facebook friends to play by sending an invite to SPP! Ranch or continue posting SPP! Ranch updates to your feed--this might entire your friends to make a ranch of their own. Or, if you don't mind adding strangers to your Facebook page, visit the SPP! Ranch page on Facebook and ask for friends.

When are new items released?
New items are released every Wednesday at midnight EST.

Good luck playing Facebook's SPP! Ranch!

After posting I wondered if my comment was worded right. I hadn't heard of SPP! Ranch, but know that Farmville & other games on FB are so time consuming. This one doesn't sound much different.

I have several family members that play Farmville. It is just so time consuming. But, Facebook knows what they are doing. I bet they are making some good money getting people to play these games.
