Spring 2009; Jumpsuits, Posh Spice and Heel Art

M. Lee
The New York and London runways have finally brought women wearable styles for Spring 2009. From figure flattering jumpsuits to clunky, decorated heels, the Spring 2009 fashion trends have something for every woman. Fashion should always be flattering, easy to wear, trendy and sexy. This spring, a few trends particularly stand out as having these qualities.

This spring jumpsuits are back. The Spring 2009 jumpsuits invoke the glamour of the past, with feminine styles and glamorous materials. The zippers and parachute material of previous years are long gone. Sparkling sequins, shimmer and shine are hot trends for Spring 2009. This year's lighter-than-air shimmery fabrics work especially well for jumpsuits. Go for a sleek look with a jumpsuit, baggy areas are a definite no-no. The look can also be achieved with a matching top and slacks, cinched with a belt. This may be more practical, especially if you have ever struggled with a jumpsuit in a small women's bathroom stall.

Long and lean silhouettes are in, thanks in part to Victoria Beckham's signature line. Her simple and dramatic silhouette-hugging dresses were well received. Her classy calf-length dresses are designed to flatter the normal woman's figure, not only the waifs that usually model these types of dresses. Many of us women cannot afford a Victoria Beckham dress, but the look can be obtained. Look for dresses that are calf-length, with shaping around the waist and hips. Simple classy dresses with grosgrain waistbands would achieve the look for less. Needless to say, high quality foundation garments are a must with this type of dress.

Heels are a must have for Spring 2009. Cut-out heels and carved heels will make easy-to-wear clunky heels more feminine looking. Heel ornamentation can take the form of embroidery, crystals, cut-outs, charms and studs. Floral embellishments will be particularly hot. The basic little black dress can undergo a complete transformation with shoes featuring heel art. Even skinny heels will feature some type of heel art. Reverse heels are back from last year, although their wear-ability is in question. These heels protrude from the ball of the foot and have an architectural look.

Gladiator sandals are going to be bigger than they were in 2008. Heavily strapped gladiator sandals, in bold orange and pink, are a hot spring fashion trend that any woman can wear. They are best paired with clothing that has simple, clean lines. Gladiator sandals draw attention to your calves, so if you have great calves, go for it!
