Spring 2012 Begins September 8, 2011 for the Four Major Fashion Weeks

September is fashion's "It" month, paving the way for the four major fashion weeks to show their spring collections. For spring 2012 the four weeks run from September 8, 2011 until October 5, 2011. New York begins with a few surprises featuring new talent and a big name conspicuously missing from the schedule. If you are like me, you may be wondering if another controversy will occur during these four weeks. Time will tell. For now, take a look at the dates for each week and the schedules for some of the highly anticipated designers.

The Dates are Set

I already clued you in on when New York begins and when Paris ends but what about London and Milan? The four major fashion weeks are scheduled for the following days:

1. Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week: September 8, 2011 - September 15, 2011
2. London Fashion Week: September 16, 2011 - September 21, 2011
3. Milan Fashion Week: September 21, 2011 - September 27, 2011
4. Paris Fashion Week: September 27, 2011 to October 5, 2011 (schedule not available as of 8/9/2011)

Comings and Goings at New York Fashion Week

First off, I noticed a big name missing from the preliminary schedule. New York favorite, Marchesa, was neither in the press release nor on the schedule. Last September Marchesa, was one of the collections people were waiting with baited breathe to see. Georgina can you loosen those lips a bit and give us a hint?

There are a few new designers presenting at New York for spring 2012 such as EMERSON, VLOV, Honor, Falguni Peacock, Rafael Cennamo, Pink Tartan, Candela, Katya Leonovich and J. Crew. It was a shock to see J. Crew on the list of presenters as it is rare for a retailer to present at a fashion week. Maybe there is a glimmer hope for OneStopPlus to actually present at New York Fashion Week, instead of "at the same time" as the major event.

I wish the Paris schedule was available at the time this article was written; however, I am sure top names like Chanel, Balmain, Zac Posen, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Chloe, Givenchy and Dior will be present.
