Spring is in the Air

Lana
As many around the country my favorite time of year is spring. It's the time of year where new beginnings happen and time becomes your friend by giving way to more daylight hours.Butterflies and ladybugs start to emerge showing their adorable little faces.Flowers peak from the hard soiled ground that they had been slumbering in through the winter months and welcome the soft breezes and warm sun.

Attitudes change where cabin fever had resided for so long now being thrown out the window and new playful ones take their place.More smiles cover faces and friendlier conversations are abound.Fishing rod and reels are being pulled from their stored places, beach towels and coolers are getting a clean up and the rush of everything in life seems to finally take a breather.

The other day I sat looking outside,it was around 8:00 p.m. and a slight breeze blew in through the windows.I could hear faint sounds of birds chirping and dogs barking in the near distance. The neighborhood boys ( my own included),were playing touch football and waiting on the ice cream truck.Isn't funny how that favored nostalgic pastime still gets to the kids excited?

My little dogs lazily had perched themselves on the couch just beside where I sat and I was enjoying their company.I thought about the days to come how soon it would be until school was out and the lovely welcomed spring days that soon would lead to the hot drones of summer.Spending hours inside from being couped up through the winter would now cease and our cheeks would soon be kissed by the ever plentiful sun rays.

Baseball practices and games seemed to be easing into the realm of things complete with water bottles, sno cones and a mouthful of sunflower seeds.Carnivals would soon be setting up their festive rides in small towns filling the air with laughter and the fresh smell of cotton candy.

I wish spring would last longer as I am sure many might agree, the semi warm daytime and the cool nights is something we would want to hang onto as long as we can.Kids playing for hours not bothered by pesky bugs or sweat drip-lets that seem to annoy their brow from under their baseball caps, some even forgetting that there is time for supper and that they do have to go to bed sometime.

Bikes and scooters become a necessity in transportation for the kids that are not old enough to drive. For those that are old enough to drive they cruise around with their windows down and their favorite music blasting as they sing along. The local fast food restaurants seem to brim over from kids ordering from the dollar menus.I remember those days.

T.V.'s,computers and video games are finally getting a rest from the many hours spent in front of them because it was the only thing to do.Neighbors seem to wave more as they pass by or actually get out of their houses and stand outside for a few minutes to talk.Although spring is short the memories that accumulate are not.

Life in these moments seem so much easier and laid back, the air seems to smell better, the noises seem to not be as bothersome. And in my opinion hearts seem to be more open and carefree.
