Spring Awakens

Cindy Wolfe
There is a quiet thing happening in my garden:
Bulbs revive and swell with green
An early red tulip opens to the blue sky
The drowsy bee shakes off his winter nap
Root fingers probe gently in the warm moist soil
The grass considers how best to reach the sun
Little buds on branches show a peek of color
Fragile shoots stretch tall and yawn.
Hushed and sleepy,
Spring stirs and sighs.
