Spring Birthday Party Game Ideas

Jennifer Burss
Spring will soon be upon us. Yes, spring, the season of both rain and sunshine. The season of nature's renewal, spring is a great time for an outdoor party. Spring can make for great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Many birthdays including my own happen in spring. There are many ways to enjoy birthdays both the indoors and outdoors this spring. There are many birthday party game ideas that encourage creativity and physical activity. In this article, the focus will be on children's birthday party game ideas for springtime.

Some of these games are old fashion compared today's world of the internet, I pods, and instant gratification. Even though the rewards for these games aren't instantly apparent, they are great for pure physical activity and the learning of social skills for young children. They are games that most people around 30 and over played in school and with friends that you may want to introduce you kids and grandkids to, birthday party happening or not.

Simon Says- This game involves listening very carefully. A game leader instructs a group to do something, waving their left hand for example, if the request isn't lead by the phrase Simon Says and participants follow what is asked they are usually out of the game. If you don't think that's the best idea, change the rules to your liking. Although that may not be the best plan if you want to impart listening skills in children. If they want to stay in the game they'll do their best to listen. Be sure to impart that doing their best is what is important, along with the need to be good sports.

Nerf Sports- Nerf has made foam sport kits for years. They come in many varieties including bowling and basketball they can all be played indoors or out and are soft to avoid too many injuries.

Art and Crafts- Break out the paper, paints, crayons, and let the kids create a little piece of artwork to take home.

All of these activities are great for physical activity and creativity and yes they require parent supervision and participation, but there is no harm in that and hopefully you'll find something for both you and your kids to enjoy together and with their friends. Have fun!
