Ride Together
This is a no-brainer. It's so much smarter for everyone to take one big car. It saves each individual money on gas when everyone pitches in and with gas prices on the rise, this is definitely helpful. It's also fun, because everyone gets to talk on the way there and you can even make pit-stops as a group to see any interesting sites along the way.
Camp
Camping is far less expensive than renting a hotel room. So look into camp sites. Everyone can bring their own tent and a sleeping bag, and you can make it into a beach trip/ camp out. Although some people might think of this as roughing it, it's really not bad. Most camp-sites have communal showers, so you can clean up before bed or before heading out to the beach for the day!
Find Free Festivals
There are plenty of free music events and festivals that occur during spring break. You just have to plan ahead and find them. It's way easier to have fun on a budget when you know exactly what you want to do and when you want to do it. If you miss out on free events, your trip may end up costing you more, as you'll probably head to bars as your beach alternative and spend money buying drinks.
Pack Food
When we're at home, we all know that it's more expensive to dine out than it is to cook meals at home. But for some reason, when people are on vacation they forget this and end up splurging on restaurant food. Instead of eating out for every meal. Save your money. Shop at a local grocery store and buy food that can be kept in a cooler. This will save you cash and perhaps your group can go out for one nice meal during the trip.
Shorten Your Trip
You don't have to stay at the beach for the entire week of spring break. That would take a LOT of money. Instead, plan out a shorter trip. You'll still have a great time and not only will you save cash, but you'll make more money during your spring break because you'll be able to come home and work more hours. And don't think your spring break won't be fun if you can't spend the whole time at the beach, you can still go out with your friends during other days of spring break when you're back at home, but you'll be able to offset that spending by working at your home-town job.
