Spring Break in Italy Packing Tips

A spring break trip to Italy is likely to be one of the most exciting adventures in your life. There are many things to see and do in Italy, so boredom will not be an option. However, luggage-related drama and inconvenience could potentially spoil your dream spring break in Italy. There are a number of ways to plan ahead and pack light, but well for any spring break trip.

1) Strongly consider packing only what you can comfortably carry around for long periods of time. Many spring break trips to Italy are budget trips, and you could be doing a lot of walking and staying in hostels and small hotels. Any major essential you forget you can either do without, find from another traveler, or purchase inexpensively while in Italy.

2) Also consider bringing a suitcase that you can carry-on an airplane. Checking baggage is not only a waste of time, but with international trips carries a lot of risks. If your luggage is misdirected, delayed, or even lost, this could potentially ruin your spring break trip to Italy. Combat this possibility in its tracks by only bringing what your airline will let you carry-on.

3) Bring a small travel guide and English-Italian/Italian-English dictionary. Your school or college may have these in their libraries, or you can buy them cheaply online. This is important to help you understand the language, geography, and culture. However, getting bogged down with heavy guidebooks is not necessary.

4) Make copies of your passport and airline tickets and leave them with a family member, trusted friend, or resident advisor. If your essential documents are lost or stolen, having someone at home with that information makes life a lot easier in Italy.

5) Pack three outfits, one very casual, one casual, and one business professional or nice. You can hand wash clothes in a hostel or hotel if you are taking an extended trip.
