Spring Break in Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Lana
Yes,it is that time of year that all the high schools and colleges are getting ready for spring break. It is saying goodbye to winter and welcoming of spring.Lake Havasu City ranked at a astounding fifth place of the countries "hottest" places to go for spring break and is climbing in rank.Reasons that the young and young at heart flock to Lake Havasu City for the covenant spring break festivities are first off,the warm weather temperatures can reach as high as in the 80's in March and April letting you enjoy fun in the sun.

Secondly the size of the lake more than 400 miles of breathtaking coastline with tons of water activities from skiing to wake boarding to para sailing the list can seem endless making Lake Havasu City known as "a water lovers paradise".Thirdly the famous London Bridge,we all heard the nursery rhyme "London bridge is falling down" well this is where they brought it to,yes,it is the original London Bridge that was brought over piece by piece and restored in this beautiful town where is has been maintained since 1978.

During spring break in Lake Havasu City you can make your way on the lake to a cove well known for it's all night parties Copper Canyon. Here boaters link their boats to each other and have an amazing wild time. The cliffs that surround this cove give way to many divers, whether it is your first time or you are experienced you will be cheered on by a onslaught of perfect strangers who (if you are of age) would be more than happy to do a shot of any alcohol with you or have a beer with you after your crazy antics.Although Lake Havasu City will now fine young ladies for flashing this seems to be a more "dare me to " scenario bringing out the bad,the good and unfortunately the ugly because even though you are there to have a good time the Lake Havasu City police will be there as well.

There are many beaches that you can get to to camp all night which seems to be the younger crowds favorites , be ware you will have to walk down an incline to get to them but once you find your area you will find seclusion from the hustle and bustle where you can break free, have a few drinks, play your music, take walks,BBQ and whatever else your heart desires.A helpful hint bring water socks in these areas because of the sharp rocks.Another favored spot is the several beachy areas where they have basketball courts, volleyball nets, baseball diamonds and covered pic nic tables unless you get to these places early you may have a hard time finding a place to hang out, although these areas are very accessible to the lake activities itself they do get rather busy.

If you are buying food to take on a boat for your excursion remember that their Wal Mart is NOT a super center so you will have to go to one of the many grocery stores such as Food City ,Smiths (a Kroger store), Bashas or Safeway. Most of these stores are easy and convenient to get to and are usually comparable in prices. If you don't have your lodging already taking care of by now and you are planning to visit Lake Havasu City for spring break you just may be out of luck. There are about 20 hotels in the city and most people book a few months in advance to insure their lodging you may get lucky though but chances are you won't be close to the lake.

There a few night hot spots to indulge in HaHa located at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center is a adults only comedy club. The Underground featuring punk, rock and metal bands,The Kokomo a hip dance club located at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center it seems there is something for everyone to enjoy and I will be one of those visiting this lovely hot spot with my two children at spring break but I have the upper hand,my parents live there!

Update...we now have a Super-Walmat. Yet, even without it, Havasu is known for some really nice grocery stores. I have friends who live in So. California and can't wait to get here, so they can shop at Bashas on the southside of town. Seriously. As for lodging, if you can't get a motel, you can always check with one of the real estate companies and see if they have available vacation rental property. Renting a private house can often be less than a motel.
