One of the first factors that will contribute to capturing great spring break photos is choosing the right film speed. The film speed will be listed on the out side of the box of film or on the outside of the disposable camera. The speed will ranger from 200-800 and you will probably notice that the higher the film speed gets the more expensive it is.
Spring Break Photo Tip 1
For bright outside situations a film speed of 200 or 400 will allow for ideal exposures. These film speeds are less likely to get over exposed resulting in a photo that is washed out.
Spring Break Photo Tip 2
If you are choosing a film that needs to take inside and outside photos then go with a 400 speed. Just make sure that you are using your flash when you are taking photos indoors unless there is unusually bright lighting inside.
Spring Break Photo Tip 3
For outside events involving quick action like filming sports events or in darker situations like night clubs a film speed of 800 is ideal. Please see further tips for taking dark indoor photos.
Tips For Taking Photos Outside
Spring Break Photo Tip 4
When taking spring break photos of your friends when you're outside make sure to take the photos with the sun at your back. This will ensure that the photo isn't too bright or washed out from too much light.
Spring Break Photo Tip 5
Even when there is a lot of sun sometimes the person being photographed will have a shadow over their face. By using the flash in this situations you will be able to eliminate the shadow and create a perfect photo.
Tips For Taking Photos In Dark Places
Spring Break Photo Tip 6
Remember that if the object you are taking a photo of is too far away to have the flash light bounce off of it that the flash won't light up whatever you're trying to take a picture of enough to take a photo. So, you need to be reasonably close to what you are taking a photo of if you are going to use a flash.
Spring Break Photo Tip 7
When you are taking a photo in a dark place stabilize yourself. By leaning against a wall or sitting down with your elbows on a table, you will keep the camera from moving, thus getting a good photo.
Tips For Framing Your Photo
Spring Break Photo Tip 8
Keep in mind what you are wanting to take a photo of. If you are taking a photo of your friends and not the scenery, then there is no reason to leave a bunch of empty space in the background. Move up and make sure that the figures you are taking the photo of are in center stage.
Spring Break Photo Tip 9
For landscape photos use the 1/3rds 2/3rds rule. Make either the land or the sky 1/3 and make the other 2/3rds. It is really up to you based on which part is the most beautiful. By not putting the horizon in the middle you will really improve your landscape shots.
Spring Break Photo Tip 10
For some extra spring break fun purchase a water proof disposable camera. You can take memorable photos with your friends and not even worry about getting the camera wet!
