Spring Break Vacations in San Diego, California

If fun in the sun is your thing, San Diego is a great place to visit for spring break. The possibilities are endless and the excitement goes non-stop.

Spring Break in San Diego #1
The old part of town is filled with quaint shops and restaurants. Mexican cuisine, sea food and all your favorites are easily found in the Yellow Pages if you don't want to just wander and look around.

Spring Break in San Diego #2
The port is alive with activity all year round. Cruise ships decorate the harbor with their streamers and banners while Navy ships dock with their heroic cargo, coming home on leave. There are piers for fishing and the coastline around San Diego is great for surfing or surf fishing. Whale watching tours leave the harbor so you can see the mighty beasts in their own natural habitat.

Spring Break in San Diego #3
The San Diego Zoo is one of the most famous zoos in the world. You can see anything from aardvarks to zebras, some in cages and some in their natural surroundings. It's an experience to delight both young and old and all ages in between.

Spring Break in San Diego #4
The old missions are a big attraction. They were built in the 1700's by Catholic monks who journeyed on foot along the El Camino Real and went up the coast from Mexico. The missions are still in use today and hold tightly to the traditions of yesterday. You can see the old cemeteries where the first settlers lived and died two centuries ago. You can buy novelties in the many mission-sponsored gift shops, and even watch the swallow come back to Capistrano, if you visit the Capistrano Mission. It's fascinating to realize the strength and determination it took for the sandaled monks to walk all those miles and build something as grand as the old structures are.

Spring Break in San Diego #5
Marine World is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the San Diego area. You can watch the different fish through glass walls, swimming slowly through their own little world. Trained seals and dolphins perform for the pleasure of the audience while their trainers put them through their exciting paces. Their antics at times extend to splashing the audience! Photo opportunities and gift shops will provide you with wonderful memories of a day well spent.

Spring Break in San Diego #6
Just a short trip south from San Diego is Tijuana, Mexico. Be prepared for an adventure if you go there. Spanish is the language and it helps to be able to communicate at least a little. There are many cabbies and shop owners who speak English, however and that can be a big help. It's no joke about not drinking the water, seriously! But feel free to drink bottled beverages and eat the abundant Mexican foods available. There are shops where you can buy everything from ceramic dragons to jalapeƱos for a price much smaller than you'd expect. Mexico is famous for its soccer, bull fights and dog racing. So feel free to take advantage of all the local entertainment and take plenty of pictures as well.

San Diego is one of the hottest vacation spots in the country and for very good reasons. If you spend your spring break in San Diego, you'll have plenty of memories and a wonderful time.

San Diego has some fantastic golf courses. You should check out Torrey Pines. It has great views of the Pacific Ocean. If your lucky you might see Tiger Woods playing a round. It's actually a public course.
