1. Have all the cleaning supplies you need handy. You can use a bucket to carry these items room to room so that you don't have to stop what you are doing and go and get the item that you need. You can also purchase inexpensive spray bottles at dollar stores to make the job go faster. Always label the bottles so that you know what is it them. When you use these bottles the cleaners will already be pre-mixed for you and ready to use.
2. Start by decluttering the room before you even think about cleaning it. Get rid of excess clutter so that when you are ready to clean it will easier and you won't have to move things out of your way. This will save you time when you are cleaning. This is also a great time to donate items to the thrift stores that you no longer need or use.
3. Start the furthest away from the door then work your way to the door. Doing it this way will help you not to miss anything when cleaning. Move the furniture to the center of the room and you will be able to clean and then the final step in the room would be to vacuum the center of the room where the furniture was.
4. Get your family to help. Having children help by cleaning the baseboards will help you get done sooner and also save your back from bending over to reach the area near the floor. There are many things that the kids can do. If you have teenagers and a spouse they can help you move the furniture and the heavier items.
5. Do not stop cleaning till you complete the task in that room. It's easier to complete a room all at once than to stop and come back later to complete the project. Since you have all the items that you need you will be able to move from one job to another without running for more supplies.
The good thing about spring cleaning is that it is usually done only once a year. Once you complete one room you will want to restock your supplies then move on to the next room. With a little organization and help from the family your home can be cleaned in no time.
